Amidst much media speculation, Cowboys owner Jerry Jones insists he will not trade up for the opportunity to draft RB Darren McFadden with a top five pick.
"I have no intent at all of moving into the top five," Jones said. He also stressed that this was more about paying the going rate for a top five draft pick as opposed to a comment on McFadden's talent. He can likely stay where he is and draft Jonathan Stewart or Felix Jones.

Darren McFadden reportedly scored a 17 on the Wonderlic Exam.
It's not an outstanding score, but definitely won't hurt his stock. It will be interesting to see how much McFadden's off-field issues really affect him on draft day. There is seemingly little chance he'd fall out of the top six.

Coach Lane Kiffin said Tuesday that the Raiders are happy with their running back situation and are unlikely to draft Darren McFadden.
Kiffin doesn't call the personnel shots in Oakland and may not even be in the know as far as owner Al Davis' line of thinking, so take this with a grain of salt. Kiffin also has never exactly been straightforward with the media.

Yes, but that's not the point, despite having Laurence Mauroney, the Patriots refuse to run the ball, one series a half they'll lineup with Brady under center and run, but that's it, all the rest of the time they're in shot-gun w/ Brady flinging it around to the wideouts.

ESPN's Bill Williamson reports there are "major rumblings" that Raiders owner Al Davis will take Darren McFadden with the No. 4 overall pick.
If Lane Kiffin says Oakland doesn't need another tailback, Davis is probably thinking the exact opposite. Davis loves measurables, and other than Vernon Gholston, no one has better on-paper numbers than the Arkansas runner. Kiffin is likely hoping for a defensive lineman, but he isn't calling any shots.

NFL.com's Adam Schefter reports Arkansas RB Darren McFadden is the top-rated player on the Rams' draft board.
Wow. Obviously, this doesn't mean the Rams will draft McFadden No. 2 overall, but it's interesting they'd put him there (and let that info get out) with Steven Jackson on the roster. Jackson is in the final year of his contract.

Jets on Track To Score Big Prize at NFL DraftFor coach Eric Mangini and general manager Mike Tannenbaum, all of the other five players could make an immediate contribution to the Jets as rookies. But the best-case scenario would be drafting McFadden, the one player on the board who has the potential to instantly transform their team.

NFL Network's Adam Schefter does not believe the Raiders will take Arkansas RB Darren McFadden if he's available with the No. 4 pick.
Schefter says he's "looking for Vernon Gholston" to be Oakland's choice. Schefter usually has the inside scoop on anything Raiders-related, from reporting Art Shell's firing several weeks in advance to revealing Lane Kiffin and Al Davis' back-and-forth. It'd be hard not to trust him on this.

Jets officials have met with RB Darren McFadden three times in the past month, including a night on the town.
It's all part of their background checking and information collecting, and the Jets appear to have assuaged doubts about any character issues. Says their director of college scouting: "We've done our homework. If that's the pick we choose to make, we will be comfortable with that decision."

Glenn Dorsey was named the top player in the 2008 draft by the most personnel people asked in an informal poll taken by the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel.
Only 20 people were asked, but Jake Long and Vernon Gholston finished in a suprising tie for fifth. Darren McFadden, Chris Long, and Sedrick Ellis followed Dorsey. While this is hardly scientific, it shows the amazing disagreement about the top of this draft. Nothing should surprise us next Saturday.

Bears GM Jerry Angelo said Tuesday that he believes Arkansas RB Darren McFadden is the best player in the draft.
Angelo thinks Matt Ryan and Glenn Dorsey are also among the top players. The Bears still seem likely to use their top pick on an offensive tackle.
