Falcons agreed to terms with RB Michael Turner on a six-year contract. The deal includes $15 million guaranteed and is worth $34.5 million.
Detroit and Chicago reportedly had interest, but Atlanta didn't let Turner leave town. The 26-year-old is a 5'10/237-pound back who fits OC Mike Mularkey's power scheme perfectly. He has a career YPC of 5.5 and has fumbled twice on 228 carries, has fumbled just twice. Turner will start in Atlanta, and Warrick Dunn seems likely to get cut, with Jerious Norwood filling a change of pace role. The Falcons aren't contenders for Darren McFadden now, becoming the favorites for Matt Ryan. Atlanta's offense has a lot of question marks, but look for Turner to get drafted as in the second or third round as a RB2.

Thank goodness! DMAC would've been finished if he went to ATL.

League insiders tell the NY Daily News that "it's looking more and more like" the Jets will take Darren McFadden with the No. 6 overall pick.
He'd have to be there, but the smart money is on McFadden not being a top-five pick because of off-field concerns. The Jets are expected to use this draft to upgrade their overall team speed. McFadden would be a start.

Jets signed RB Jesse Chatman to a one-year contract.
Chatman, 28, revived his career in Miami last year, gaining 515 yards on 128 carries with 27 catches. For depth, we'd pencil him in right behind Thomas Jones, though Chatman and Leon Washington would likely split duties if Jones goes down. The move makes the Jets a bit less likely to draft Darren McFadden. Chatman (5'8/222) can be a bruiser, but scored only one TD in 2007 and shouldn't be a major short-yardage threat.

On SportsCenter this morning, Mel Kiper has him at #4 on the big board going to the Raiders.

I think that's where he's going to end up, barring a trade.

The Sacramento Bee is "hearing" that if Chris Long is available with the No. 4 overall pick, there's "no way" the Raiders could pass.
We have a hard time believing the Rams could let Long get by them at No. 2 considering their gaping hole opposite Leonard Little, but stranger things have happened. St. Louis is known to be high on Vernon Gholston. Long's father, Howie, played for owner Al Davis during the Raiders' glory days.

The Jets flew a contingent of representatives to Arkansas yesterday to meet with RB Darren McFadden.
The Jets are doing their homework in case McFadden falls to the No.6 spot because of off-field concerns.

SI.com's Jim Trotter was told "in passing" by a Raiders employee last year that owner Al Davis is "infatuated" with Darren McFadden.
Of Oakland potentially taking McFadden No. 4 overall, a source familiar with the Raiders' situation said he could "definitely see that happening." The Raiders' offseason investments on defense seemingly make it a bit more likely that they'll use their first-round pick on an offensive player.

Please, sweet merciful God, don't let this happen, don't send our pride and joy out to that wasteland of the NFL, full of malcontents and overpaid attitude cases.
Maybe DMac could get a few more girls pregnant (or have'm lie and say it was him) so that he'll slide a few more spots, just don't send him to Oakland.

lol Well, I don't wish THAT on D-Mac, but I agree... Anywhere but Oakland or Atlanta... Pittsburgh would be nice - Bert

Case in point, the Raiders just signed DeAngelo Hall who was such a thorn in the side of the Atlanta folks and was so outspoken when Petrino left... Anywhere but Atlanta or Oakland for D-Mac.... Pleeeeeeeeeeeeease? - Bert
