As for teh stretch I certainly think you can have the video tribute for opening day. But I think we could take a page from the Cubs playbook. Thanks to WGN, Harry Carey's rendition will always be in my mind. we could have different local celebs or (better in my opinion) Baum stadium Vets (not to be confused with GCV, though she does qualify) do their imatation of Shank's rendition. I have a feeling that former players would love to be a part of this whenever they visit Baum.

My daughter in law called me this morning and told me she heard about Larry Shank's passing. I immediately called G because I wanted her to tell me that it was only a rumor. I feel so bad. I look forward to baseball at Baum but most of all I look forward to hearing Larry's intro, calling the hogs, etc. It will take someone very special to fill his shoes and no offense to any one but I can't see it right now. He is one of the reason I was finally able to convince my husband to start buying season tickets. It just won't be the same at Baum on opening day with his voice not filling the stadium. Although, I never knew him personally, he always seem to find time to talk to me when I addressed him. I will miss him so much!

If you can use "rotating" stretch leaders, then why not just do the tape of Larry? This would in no way diminish the new PA person. Harry Caray was not the PA man at Wrigley. At the Travs games, the radio guy leads as well. Does this "hurt" the PA guy's feelings? I doubt it. If every game is "too much", then maybe just on Saturdays or whatever.

I think the once a week is a good compromise, i just think you lose more by not having it done live.

Here is the memory that will eternally for me be Larry Shank at his best. This was before the first game with Wichita State on June 6, 2004. Most of you will remember how that game finished, but this is how it started: www.youtube.com/watch?v=1mwsDCxJuyoWhen he finished, Debbie Hode and I and I'm sure many others were almost broken down in tears. The combination of this possibly being the end for some of us along with Larry's powerful heartfelt rendition had me so choked up that I couldn't speak. Little did we know what we were in store for on that day and beyond. Many times I made it a point to thank Larry for what meant to all of us, not only with his talents but with his sincerity. I will miss him terribly but I am thankful that we have memories like this forever.

Snuck out of work for the service. I've been to many, sang at several, spoke at some and even had to plan a few - that was likely the best memorial service I have ever been to. Fitting. Packed house, including Coach DVH, who had to get up at 4 this morning from seeing Logan last night in order to make it. Bobby. Your best work thus far. Awesome job of expressing all of our thoughts! Ditto PH2.... very touching, Bobby. Thank you both.
