This was in the Morning News this morning www.nwaonline.net/articles/2007/07/24/sports/072507localbrief.txt Shank In Grave Condition FAYETTEVILLE -- After battling off cancer for more than a year, Arkansas baseball public address announcer Larry Shank is again in the of his life. While Shank's cancer went through a period of remission, it was recently learned the longtime announcer for Razorbacks' baseball -- who took over the duties in 1990 -- is now undergoing Hospice care at his home after the cancer returned in an aggressive manner. In a letter sent out to Springdale Rotary members Tuesday, Shank's son, Andy, reported his father's cancer had returned and that Larry Shank was 'not expected to live much beyond two weeks.' The Shank family is requesting no visitors at this time. -- VERNON TARVER * THE MORNING NEWS I wonder if there is any way for fans to have a website or a board put up at Baum to leave notes letting Mr. Shank know we are thinking about him. I am not web savy enough to figure that out.

Thank you for posting that. I'm so sad for his family.
As to your question, I have no idea, but there are people on this board who probably do.

Oh, my..........I had hoped when this was posted that someone had their story mixed up, but I guess not. Larry Shank was the BEST baseball p.a. man I have EVER heard, anywhere at any level. The Hog games will not be the same without him.

As entertaining and as he is, and the way he warms a crowd was second to none. Above all else, he is a class act. No one sings the National Anthem better, (the way it was meant to be) He is in my prayers as well.

Bua why is that immaterial?? It was said earlier in this thread that he wore some sort of hat because of chemo. If this is skin cancer caused by the sun people should learn from Larry. I'm sure many of ya'll on here sit out and bake in the sun during the season just to get a good tan. Tan's might be cool when your young but they will sometimes come back to cause you pain and hurt when you get older. Lets hope Larry proves the doctors wrong and we can hear that booming voice again next year.
