For my 1,000th post, I'd like to start a thread of "Greatest Moments at Baum Stadium.
These moments can be "moments on the field",
"moments while tailgating with friends",
"moments such as greatest heckles of all time",
"moments such as funniest things you've seen occur in the stands",
or my personal favorite "moments such as greatest stretch of the truth ever spoken by those sitting around you!"
So think about it and let the posting begin!
I'd also like to take this 1,000th post to say thanks to my fellow tailgating crew. Many things make the Baum Stadium experience special, but you are the reason I keep coming back each and every year.
And a special shout out to HogBusGuy, Bobby's Writer and Pigstachio. I don't see as much of you as I used to, but I have a special place in my heart for you three.
Thanks for the memories and a big thank you to Dale and Charlie for making this board possible.

great idea for your 1,000th post. Thank you for being part of HogNation! And for my contribution to the greatest moments at Baum Stadium, I'll add a recent one: March 23rd, 2007. Friday night game, #1 ranked Vanderbilt in town. The buzz around that game was amazing. Nick Schmidt vs. David Price. And it ended with a two-bag tag! What a game. youtube.com/watch?v=y229ynBDK64

Unfortunately, I don’t have any “Greatest Moments at Baum Stadium” to post yet, but I expect that will all change in just 93 days, 6 hours, 12 minutes and 25 seconds!!!

March 23rd, 2007. Friday night game, #1 ranked Vanderbilt in town. The buzz around that game was amazing. Nick Schmidt vs. David Price. And it ended with a two-bag tag! What a game. youtube.com/watch?v=y229ynBDK64Ooh, I love the two-bag tag! Many of my moments were in the stands. The Auburn player who did that thing with his mouth towards me that isn’t appropriate for the board. The Florida fan who was ready to me (‘05 I think). The obnoxious ORU fans who sat behind me in ’05 (David helped with that one ;D ). The Alabama player I absolutely rode for three days who never stepped foot on the field in ‘06. The OSU dad who got all over me for riding his son after he was caught using a flat bat last year. But there are others… The benches clearing against Bama in ’06, the same game we walked 16 times. The Eastern Illinois game in ’05 were we stole 11 bases. The Eastern Illinois game in ’03 were we scored 11 runs in the 1st inning. The Eastern Illinois game in ’99 were Lundquist set the school HR record. Coach D’s 1000th win, against Eastern Illinois in ’98. Also the Walling 16 K game. Both of the Super Regionals games against FSU of course. Putting up 20 on Georgia in ’01. Kentucky losing their head coach and their stud pither in ’99 for throwing at us. The 2007 LSU series where the attendance records were destroyed. The LSU guy who put one over the batters eye. Sweeping #1 LSU in ’01. Jeff Fletcher’s 3-run homerun that gave us an 8-7 win over #4 S. Carolina ’02. The 11-10 win against #1 S. Carolina in 2000 that I missed for my bachelor party. The Snow Game – 11 runs in the last inning to win 17-16. DVH getting tossed against SMS in ’05. The 16 inning (4 hr, 39 min.) loss to SMS in ’04. The crazy wind game against Tennessee in ’06. 7 homeruns, Gentry walk-off. The ball that Secrest never saw that went for a homerun against #1 Vandy last year. The Bubbs homerun against WSU in the ’04 regional. The "Rule Book" game, where Coach D couldn't get the rule book out of his pants after getting tossed.

The extra inning win vs Vandy where Josh Smith absolutely blew their hitters away for 3 innings, then Hollywood scoring on the dying quail that Tschep hit back when he was hitting .100 or something like that.

Under the category of "greatest stretches of the truth by those sitting around you at the game", try this one:
The time a close friend swore that waterfowl were/where (it's so confusing) diving to their death on the Boise State football field, mistaking the blue field for the river that runs along side the field. I believe to this day, that "he" still believes it "might" be true?
Or the time a close friend "had no lift" as he was running the flag around to the other dugout during the 8th inning to whip the fans into a frenzy. The failure to obtain "lift" resulting in a nasty spill onto the top of the 1st base dugout!
The Baylor pitcher's mother verbally assaulting my "close friend" for heckling her "little" boy about his weight problem. FYI, I think the burger boy is still pitching in the bigs.
There are many more, I'll post them later. Got to get the turkey and ham in the smoker. It's almost turkey time! Reminds me of good days tailgating with friends at Baum.

The Kentucky "miracle" that very few stayed around to see. Followed by the next mornings on-line article that was published by JReed and later pulled when HogBusGuy emailed the Sports editor at the paper and questioned whether Mr. Reed "might" have left the game early. The editor stated that their reporters "never" leave the game early, although in this case Mr. Reed had called it a Wildcat win, when in fact the Hawgs had a miracle come from behind victory, which many Hog fans were unaware of till they arrived at the Stadium the next day.
Even "Norm" had left early and DVH stated he would have had he had the opportunity! The Sport's section on-line was re-written quickly, but HogBusGuy saved the original article and emailed it a couple more times for an explanation with no success.

Great idea, PH2. ....and my turkey's and hams are going on in about 4 hrs.
The Snow game is one of the best/worst, as I was one of the few quitely hoping we would just get to go home...."we won't score 11 boys, let's just get to the next game"...I hate to admit saying it... but LOVED eating my own words.
Greatest Heckle....I'll need help on the team...I think it was 99 or 2000. The opposing team's pitcher was this big-gutted blob that Bobby knicknamed "Grill Chef" among others...and every heckle related to food...relentless as usual ....and when Bobby announced that the Grill Cook won the Pappa John's hot pizza giveaway, the crowd roared and "cookie" lost it....he threw no more decent pitches and was out of the game....

Off the subject, but it's Thanksgiving Eve. 2nd Turkey just came out of the smoker, one for the road, one for this weekend. Ham just went on, won't take long just need the smoke, it's also for the weekend. Why so much? Why not! Why waste the smoke! ;D Can't help you with the team or the pitcher. Have seen his "magic" on many occassions, also did this to the Bama pitcher recently. He's the master heckler!

Reminded me of another great Baum moment.
Ole Miss series a few years back. Friday night miracle (in extra innings I believe) when a ball to the outfield was misplayed when the outfielder slipped on the wet grass, resulting in the ball bouncing off of his foot into centerfield for an inside the park home run by Chris Clark (Ibelieve). The pitcher was "Tolbert" who was not a happy camper after the misplayed ball.
That Friday night was probably one of the best Friday night's at the park as "Tolbert" went off in the dugout, throwing trash cans, throwing the cooler, kicking everything in sight and finally giving the two hand "salute" to the Hawg fans who were calling the Hogs. Believe Hognoxious might have been heckling him as well!
The rest of the weekend was classic as well as Mr. Tolbert went to the bullpen on Sunday in a save situation to several thousands fans singing "Tollllllbert, Tollllbert, Tollllbert." When he finally entered the game, he retired no one, walking several and hitting atleast one batter or two if memory serves me?
Tolbert ended up with two losses on the weekend....Lesson learned? Never flip off the opposing fans on the opening game of a three game series!

I for one will never forget the stirring rendition of "Wind Beneath My Wings" performed by A Hog Named Kyle to Bubbs a few years ago.
And of course you gotta love the whole student section's expectation of the Tendercrisp Bacon Cheddar Ranch commercial. It's actually gotten large enough that quite a few other people join in.
As HeathHog said this year during the Florida series, though, "It's great to be able to chant 'weight room' to the SEC homerun leader." That instant definitely ranks among my favorites.
And I really enjoyed the Princeton elimination game this past year when the IFG, among others, went in and cheered with the Princeton people. It's always great when old material gets heard for the first time.
Other things that are great memories:
The fact that I have camped out for more baseball games than most people camp out for any sporting event. And all of the campouts, though tiring, were worth it. Especially the ones that weren't.
Player intros: Hode's song, John Marquardt to the tune of Ghostbusters, Save a Horse for Clay, Black Betty for Maday, etc.
When the IFG Rally Ride goes around the stadium and then the Hogs do rally to win the game. Rare, but always makes me feel good.
The various things we do for deuces. Especially when I steal something long, like Kyle's camera's unipod or HeathHog's flag, and do the spinny version.
I do miss, from my first 2 years there, the doomstick. It wasn't particularly useful, but it was fun.
The fact that Bobby has the Count'em version of "what are you using to make those calls" heckle, which we stole to count Kyle's terms for the devil after shouting "You're the devil!"--even the time where he was caught with a performance enhancer (a list of names).
Two words: Carter Blackburn.
And all of those times when the wave didn't happen. Yeah, those were great.
I'll have to think of more, but we've had some good times out there.
