correct me if I'm wrong BUT if MSU holds on (6-4 bottom 9) we will be in 2nd all alone Correct, Bama came into today tied with us at 6-9. We won which put us at 7-9, they won game 1, so they move to 7-9, a loss moves them to 7-10. Auburn split with Vandy which moved them to 7-10 I think I got that down.

I like that Wells is the first one out of the dugout to greet the winning run.
As to Tiki's question, I think this year could see an integral shift in how the committee will have to judge performance. With several traditionally top teams dropping more midweek games, each conference loss makes the aesthetic appearance of overall record look less appealing. If the committee truly does not give bids to leagues (which they profess they are blind to leagues when giving out bids -- thus no quota for a conference), then one we might see some mid-majors with better RPIs than in the past and some former 1 bid leagues become 2 and 3. These have to come from somewhere, and thus the big conferences might be hurt again this year.
That said, this week's SEBaseball had 9 in. When you look at SOS of the SEC and RPI this year, the SEC is sitting well with the exception of those who once again scheduled light (cough, kentucky again, cough). Thus the more conference games we win, the better we can feel about our postseason aspirations -- since we will have faced several teams that will likely be hosting in the postseason. With 13 games left in the SEC, we currently sit in 2nd in the West and in 8th place in the league. If we finish 13-16, I like the chances as long as we outlast the 7th/8th team in the SEC tournament. Anything better and we start talking low 2 seed. I think the SEC will be a 7 bid league, so sitting at home in 9th place might be advantage this year -- yes, I know it is sad to think the last team getting in to the tournament from the SEC might be someone that sit at home, but I think there will be a lot of clumping and ties near that 6-10 range by year end. With Kentucky playing a weak OOC schedule, this might play their way out and have them sitting at home with a team that finished behind them with a better schedule is playing (Auburn, Arkansas, etc).

Kendall told me today that if the Hogs win tomorrow he would have them in as a 3 seed next week. If we win tomorrow our RPI might be in the 20's

Kendall told me today that if the Hogs win tomorrow he would have them in as a 3 seed next week. If we win tomorrow our RPI might be in the 20's I expect even with a win tomorrow, we will be sitting about where we are since Tennessee is unfortunately not a stellar RPI boost (RPI in the 60s) due to weak OOC. But we could move up into the low 20s based on how those in front of us finish this weekend. As of now, I still think we jump into a 3 seed regardless of outcome tomorrow.

If you look at resume, I just figure the Hogs would be in based on teams we have faced. Figure we would have quite a few tournament teams on our resume (ORU, ASU, Nebraska, A&M, Florida, Georgia, Vanderbilt, and then probably a few other ones like Ohio State, La Tech that boost resume).

makes since but if we get in we need to win at least one at Ole Miss and both over NC to stay in.

It looks like Texas has lost almost any chance of hosting though I'm sure they will do everything they can for Texas to host as a 2 seed. I think right now they are a 3 seed and not far from being on the bubble

by the way Tiki, if i remember correctly, in the 6th inning you said the game was over ... i said it was early and there were still 3 innings left. remember, anything can happen! you should never say it's over in baseball ...

And people say the kid is inflating his post total.... Just kidding Tiki. It was a great game. Now what makes you think Tiki is inflating his post so he can get a solid cushion in the post column?
