Summer Movies 2009
I love the summer time because some of the most entertaining, mind numbing movies come out. Give me explosions!
Star Trek - I've been a fan of The Next Generation and Deep Space Nine so I was curious on how they would reboot the series. This movie had more action than Star Trek 3 - 6. It was a great movie even though I read a review after I watched it which had pointed out a lot of the plot holes that I saw as well. I'm excited on where the franchise will go now they have created a whole new timeline. The next movie won't be weighed down with back story so they can focus on the adventure.
UP - I'm a big Disney fan and the Pixar brand is probably one of the most imaginative and creative studios around. The main theme of this movie is "Don't let life pass you by." Pixar can make you care about an old man in the first 10 min without him uttering a word. It is an entertaining movie which never dumbs itself down like many Dreamworks movies. That is why Pixar movies can stand through the test of time much better than a Madagascar or Bee Movie. Makes you look at your life a little and ask the question, "what have you done today?"
The Hangover - Probably one of the funniest movies I have seen in quite some time. It is rude, crude and obscene but I laughed the whole way through. The movie progresses quite nicely as you follow the gang as they try to piece together their night. This is the one movie that I will probably watch over and over again and cannot wait until it comes out on DVD. Zach Galifianakis and Ed Helms steal the movie. *Spoiler Alert - If you are easily offended and you make it through the movie, you may want to cut out before the credits because it only gets more obscene.
Movie from earlier this year - Taken - One of the best movies of 2009 for me. Never, ever mess with Liam Nielsen. He is such a bad mofo in this and you just want him to beat the life out of those who have hurt his little girl. I felt guilty even looking at his daughter, too afraid that he would jump out of the screen and punch me in the face. It's that intense. *note to self - Never let the kids go to Europe.
