I was skeptical before he said that. I think this guy may be the kind of personality that may win back a few fans. I loved that line though.
We will play a mother-in-law defense. Constant pressure and nagging.

I know that my thoughts may have been distorted from last week at the same time, but I really thought Pelphrey was much more impressive up there. They did a good job briefing him on the hat, hog call, etc. His wife was involved. Everything went well.
He made me nervous with the I've always bled red, but then he followed that up with but now I bleed Arkansas Razorback Red.
I said, like most, that there was nothing left but to give that other guy a chance to prove himself. So, I guess there's no choice but to give Pelphrey the same. I have a pretty good feeling towards him after the press conference.

He handled himself well, knew about our history, didn't freak out at the Hog call (shaky at first, but he picked up on it pretty quick).
Mother-in-law defense, 40 minutes of Pel, his talk about the fans and how we travel (or used to). I like him, I think he'll be a better fit and a better coach than Gillispie (I can make the arguement that much of Gillispie's success was because of A.C. Law 4.0, we'll see how he does in big blue without the Law on his side)

I went over to the press conference. This guy has tons of energy. And best of all he seems stoked to be here.

I think I'll agree with what Dale said in that I'm mostly just glad to see this part of the saga over. I'm not overly impressed with him on paper. I'm not sure we've reall upgraded from a pure coaching standpoint. But he does seem to bring a personality and style people can latch on to. Like Trey, I was concerned when he said he "bled blue" and shouted "BUT" which he did continue towards. He did a solid job in the press conference. He has experience within the SEC and recruiting in the region. He claim the assistant he's bringing with him is one of the best at recruiting. Hopefully, he'll fire up the masses who have vacated BWA.

You could tell he was more happy to be here than Altman

I was impressed with the press conference as well.
He may not fit everyone's idea of who we should/could have gotten, but I think in the long run this will be a reall good hire.

How would you describe your style of play?
"Up-tempo, pressing, 3 point shooting style of play"
And he says that all in one breath and that's all he'll say about it. I like it, but it just makes me wanna see it more.
At least Pel can sum up his style of play, Stan never could.

I'm not convinced that we got the "grandslam" we were promised. However, I will give him one major point on his first day. He gets "it". He understands the SEC, the history, and the expectations. Stan never did. He was overwhelmed. He looked like a new man in his presser at USF. Of course if I had a new job in Florida making almost a million a year, I'd look pretty happy too.

I was impressed with the presser this afternoon. I liked his energy. I look forward to many years of success with him here. He has a great team coming back (at least they all acted like they were excited to play his style of ball). Anyone see the terms (length and $) of his contract?

I saw something that said 1.2 million but don't know the # of years.

more happy? bled red? (he actually said he had bled blue)
But I liked what I heard. He mentioned the Tripletts and Barnhill; said that he loved hearing the Hogcall today, that it had previously just been intimidating.... good stuff.
I guess we'll see how it pans out.

Pelphrey Impresses Players With Fiery Talk"He was cursing as soon as he came through the door," Arkansas forward Sonny Weems said. "We were like, 'Man, he's serious. He's serious about being here.'" Forward Vincent Hunter, however, was not with the rest of the team to watch Pelphrey's news conference at Bud Walton Arena. He also didn't attend Altman's news conference, perhaps a sign that he's looking to leave for another school.
