wow. A sun belt coach. Glad that firm really paid off. This is a f'n joke. let's give the guy a chance. Anybody could look out there and say these are the biggest names. They were hired to get a guy that would fit and would actually come here. Let's see if they did that. PS: what conference did Nolan come from?

Nolan was a proven winner. He had a JUCO championship and an NIT championship. He had a very good winning percentage. We are getting a guy who is a hair above .500 in the Sun Belt. I think if we were going for a former Donovan assistant, we got the wrong one.

i just got a story on this guy today, at about 6 p.m. Ask around, you will see my source is solid.
wrong guy for the job. period.
if ya think the outcry against Altman was bad, wait til this gets around.
and Altman was a good choice.

What's wrong with him? I just scanned the thread on Woopig and there isn't much of an outcry. Maybe nobody cares at this point.

This hire just doesn't have that "WOW" factor that we need. Stan Heath's firing had nothing to do with wins and losses, it was about putting rear ends in the seats. So I guess someone thinks Pelphrey can do that.

Anthony Grant or Bob Knight would've had made me happy. Bob knight would fill seats and get our academic issues straightened out in a hurry. There's a father figure for you Mr. Beverly.

I don't think we could get anybody with the WOW factor. And this guy at least is a "style" upgrade over Heath if nothing else maybe that will get more butts in the seats. It's not like we fired Heath so we could hire this guy. We fired Heath to get somebody awesome. Everybody was saying we'd get Gillispie. It didn't work out. We got Altman. It didn't work out. I think we were kinda getting desperate. I will be at every home game next year but even I don't care that much at this point.

Sutton, Richardson, Heath.. all mid-major hires. Two outta three ain't bad . Pelphrey's overall record at South Alabama: 02/03 - 14-14 03/04 - 12-16 04/05 - 10-18 05/06 - 24-7 (reg. season co-champs; tourney champs; NCAA automatic bid) 06/07 - 20-12 (reg. season champs; upset by Troy in SBC Tourn.; NIT) Total: 80-67 I'm willing to give him a chance. He had them moving in the right direction. Then again, so did our former coach. But it is kinda funny that USF was talking to Pelphrey.. you know, the job that Stan Heath took.

obviously not! If it were burger king we'd have Coach K, and his assistants would be Billy Donovan, Bill Self, and Roy Williams.

I realize that circumstances have us on choice #10+, but I think the fact that we are fishing in the same pond as South Florida (in both our outgoing and incoming coach) is telling of where our program is.
