Now hearing that Altman may be reconsidering his decision and may return to Creighton.
Disaster may be about to happen.
Tell me it ain't true.

Line of the night at Baum Stadium, from Bruinstyle2001 after the chicken had 3 innings of coverage on the big screen, "That chicken has got more face time than Dana Altman!"

Listening to the Channel 5 replay a thought occurs to me. Everyone kept saying how we neeed to find a coach before the real deal on the hill tournament coming up so that we'd have a presence for potential recruits to see. Maybe we need to talk to every coach that comes through the door to scout these recruits..

Or just hire an AAU coach that can bring 3 or 4 big time recruits with him.

This just makes me feel sick inside. It hurts to think about what a laughingstock our University has become.

Can we just hire Pat Summit. C'mon...what do we have to lose. It would mean instant HUGE publicity. But we probably couldn't afford her.

Upon finding out yesterday there are issues with some of the players, academic and other, Dana and John White talked 4 times. It seems that he may have wanted to bring more of his staff down to keep issues like this from happening, but that rumor may be left over from the 'he's bringing his AD to be on the staff and take over as AD later' rumor. Did someone intimate that the Creighton AD Rasmussen could come and then backed off? (BTW, that would not be Frank)
There is a problem when John White is answering questions that need to be addressed by Frank Broyles. If Frank's phone had rung, he would have solved the problem, calmed the fears or come back and exhausted all options before letting him 'get on that plane'. Almost every problem related to the Razorback program can be traced back to someone else doing the AD's job, trying to do the AD's job or thinking they were doing the AD's job.
But what I said loudly and continuously to anyone who asked my opinion at the baseball game last night (and there were a lot):
Dana Altman comes in for the big press conference. The press (some who are in jean shorts and wife-beater T-shirt) asked him if he is satisfied since he was at least the 4th choice. Later, he and his family gathered around the TV to see the various news reports and then reads the many newspaper accounts - both have fan's reactions. "They said we were going to hit a home run, this is more like a bunt single", "The candidates were Gillispie, Self, Calipari, and then pretty much anybody with a whistle", "Who is this guy?" and the like... Upon hearing and reading all this, the family comes to one conclusion: Is there anyway we can go back where people actually want us?
Even more loudly, I emphasize: There is no way I would coach for these jerks! I wouldn't play for them either. It's all I can do to go to the baseball games and have myself called a Razorback fan. Anyone who has ever done one thing to support Hogville, it's spinoffs, their posts on other boards, protests, T-shirts, ads and said that mentality was acceptable behaviour for fans shares in the blame for this. And the fans like myself that allowed this to be regarded as the views and attitudes of any noticeable percentage of the fanbase are to blame as well.

Just remember...these things are never as dramatic as they seem at first.
And for better or worse we are Razorback fans. None of us could ever give that up.

The rumors of drug violations and academic problems apparently have some validity and may have played at least some role in Altman leaving. www.kfsm.com/Global/story.asp?S=6327219"In a press conference in Omaha earlier Wednesday, Altman maintained that doing what was best for his family was his motivation for returning to Creighton, but two independent sources have told 5NEWS that Altman knew about the failed drug tests, as well as academic issues with some of the players. In light of that, he wanted to bring in his own staff people to deal with academics and NCAA compliance matters, but reportedly was told he could not do that. That's when he decided to leave."
