Heath isn't even graduating this year... oh, wrong Heath.  Seriously, what is everyone's take on this? To me it appears that they want to fire him, but can't justify it. So they are slow playing it in hopes he becomes a viable candidate for one of these Big 10 jobs. |

While we consider it failure, he has been to the tournament back-to-back years and 3 of 6 as a head coach. That is 3 more times than Michigan has been in the last decade (since they quit paying players).

So would they have hired him if we didn't fire him, ala Tubby?
If they would have considered him then, I think they still would consider him now. I also look at maybe Iowa who was turned down by their first choice Pearl.
Like HomerHog said, Stan has gone to the tournament 2 straight years. Michigan has not since the end of the Fab 5 days. He presumeably has good recruitng contacts up there from his days at MSU.
