Big win but still maybe not out of the woods. For example, Hogs lose tomorrow and MSU goes on to win the tourney. Would they take our place?
Last game against the Bulldogs was pretty physical. Hope they have something left in the tank. Hogs were looking fatigued at times today.

Well we did it again.
Basketball moves up to 33 in the rpi (according to warrennolan.com as of 9:59 eastern) with the win over MSU. It predicts a drop to 35 with a loss to Florida. Also, in this down year for the RPI, the SEc has tightened the gap behind the SEC for best RPI to .0004. For reference, Third the Pac 10 is .0116 behind the SEC. SEC ranking says we deserve at least 5 when they talk about ACC getting 8. Realistically, we should be right with them. I would actually expect the SEC gets at least 5 which should include us, as maybe even the 4th best.
Record RPI SOS # Team W L Pct Rank Pct Rank SOS Rank 6 Florida 28-5 0.8485 8, 0.6413 6, 0.5636 44 12 Tennessee 22-10 0.6875 52, 0.6276 12, 0.6034 5 13 Kentucky 21-11 0.6562 73, 0.6264 13, 0.6206 1 33 Arkansas 21-12 0.6364 86, 0.5932 33, 0.5828 12 47 Vanderbilt 19 11 0.6333 90, 0.5830 47, 0.5757 24 48 Alabama 20 11 0.6452 78, 0.5828 48, 0.5641 43 61 Mississippi 20 12 0.6250 95, 0.5719 61, 0.5535 57 62 Georgia 17 13 0.5667 122, 0.5708 62, 0.5810 15 63 Mississippi State 18 13 0.5806 115, 0.5708 63, 0.5713 26
Oh and that Schmidt guy mowed down another team.

All the "experts" keep saying the SEC only gets four teams. I find that a bit absurd, but assuming this is true, does Arkansas get in or Vanderbilt? Hogs won twice head-to-head, plus they were late-season games, but Vandy had a much better conference record with wins over Kentucky twice, Tennessee and Florida. On the other hand, they also lost to Appalachian State and Furman.

Hogs won twice head-to-head, plus they were late-season games, but Vandy had a much better conference record with wins over Kentucky twice, Tennessee and Florida. Conference Overall RPI # Team W-L Pct GB W-L Pct Rank Pct vs 1-50 Last 10 Streak 2 Vanderbilt 10 - 7 0.588 3½ 19 - 11 0.633 47 0.5830 5 - 5 5 - 5 2 Losses 1 Arkansas 10 - 9 0.526 - 21 - 12 0.636 33 0.5932 5 - 4 6 - 4 5 Wins Counting tournament we both have 10 conference wins. We have 2 more losses in conference, but 1 overall to go with 2 more wins (getting magic # 20). Last 10 and top 50 are virtually equal. Helping significantly for Arkansas in that category is Southern Illinois who is RPI #7. Right now it is about equal and I give us the nod because our RPI is higher and we just won 2 games head-to-head. But in reality it only matters if we lose to Florida, so the comparison becomes less favorable then. You suddenly are not riding the 5 game winning streak. You drop to even with Vandy 5-5 vs top 50 and our RPI falls closer to theirs. The thing Arkansas has going for it is the 6-1 record on neutral courts (would drop to 6-2) so they may get the nod. Also as I was telling someone today, we may get the chance due to laziness. They are going to have a quick turn around to get brackets after our game so it may be easier to have us placed already. But as I said the better comparison would be these guys vs some ACC teams.
