-I'm trying to put together a list of Razorbacks and people with Razorback ties (former players, former coaches....) that have been on the covers of national magazines (Sports Illustrated, for example). So if you could post the ones you know, that would be great, even if it's vague, I'll look it up (i.e. wasn't so and so on the cover of SI around 89 or 90...).
-And when was the last time somebody with ties to the Razorbacks was on the cover of Sports Illustrated?
Thanks.

Most Preview magazines like Lindy's and Athlon's do regional covers so ther's usually a Hog cover sold around here every year. Corliss Williamson- Beckett Futire Stars March 1995 John Daly I think has 2 SI covers, but I don't remember dates

The dates on the Daly SI's are 7-31-95 and 8-19-91. There is also one of Texas and Arkansas from December of 1969. Here take a look at some of the covers. oinkville.tripod.com/cover.html

I was sorting through some stuff to get ready to add to my site today and came across these:
Beckett Football Card Monthly -- #35 February 1993-- BARRY FOSTER
Boys Life-- October 1985-- SIDNEY MONCRIEF
Beckett Basketball Monthly -- #40 November 1993 (Back Cover)-- OLIVER MILLER
Orbit (Satellite TV Guide)-- Vol. 13 #9, March 1995-- CLINT McDaniel & CORLISS WILLIAMSON
Golf Monthly (1000th Collectors issue)- April 1996- JOHN DALY
Golf Magazine- March 2003 -- JOHN DALY
Golf Digest- February 1996-- JOHN DALY
Golf Illustrated-- October 1996- JOHN DALY
When I get around to scanning everything and adding it, I can send pictures if you need them.
Lindy's, Athlon's, etc. there are Hog covers for virtually every season for football and basketball.
Another one that is not necessarily "national", but is very cool that I have framed on my wall is the August 1994 Cardinals magazine. It has a full cover close-up of Pags removing his mask for a pop-up.

Thanks! Would appreciate scans at some point, whenever you get around to it.
Yeah, it would take forever to try and get all the preseason regional covers so we're not even going to bother with that.

Saw this in the Dumozette today:
Baseball America is celebrating its 25th anniversary this summer and has evolved into one of the leading publications dealing with baseball at all amateur and professional levels. The first issue appeared in February 1981. The cover subject? The Arkansas Razorbacks’ Kevin McReynolds, who was depicted in a drawing wearing his Hogs uniform before embarking on his 12-year big league career with the San Diego Padres, New York Mets and Kansas City Royals.
Found this also:
"Having no concept of cover design, I wasn’t concerned that the cover was mostly black-and-white and the spot color we used wasn’t registered properly. All I cared about was that we had Kevin McReynolds, then of the University of Arkansas, on our inaugural cover and that he was going to be a star. And we were going to be the first national publication to let everyone know about it." --Allan Simpson

The Kareem Reid Sporting News is a regional edition. They look and seem a little more important because you have a national title at the top of the page, but they do regionals just like Athlon's, Lindy's, etc. I think I have another Kareem and a Scotty Thurman.
p.s. Just to brag a little, got my Lou Holtz SI signed this morning. It looks great. He was speaking at the Sam's office this morning promoting his new book. Not sure if he's making any stops in the area or not. Just found this on the publisher's site.
