This weeks Co-Players of the Week are Michael Conner and Kirk McConnell. Conner was 14-31 (.452) with four doubles (12), three homeruns (7), 12 RBI (29) and two stolen bases (7). He raised his season batting average 45 points. McConnell was 13-28 (.464) with one double (3), four homeruns (5), 15 RBI (18) and four stolen bases (9). He raised his season batting average 73 points.
I'm pretty sure this is the first time teammates have been the Co-Players of the Week!!
Highlights:
Cody Clark had two doubles (7) and four RBI (16) in four games.
Eric Hinske had two doubles (15) and two RBI (35).
Scott Hode had two doubles (2), one homerun (1) and two RBI (3).
Brian Kirby had three homeruns (4) and five RBI (7) in five games.
Rodney Nye was 10-24 (.417) with three doubles (14) and one stolen base (3).
Kit Pellow had one double (8) and three RBI (43) in three games.
Casey Rowlett had one double (3), three RBI (3) and one stolen base (2).
Brady Toops threw out two of four attempted base stealers this week.
Clint Brannon (5-5, 4.71) won his only start of the week. He gave up one run on three hits over six innings, walked one and struck out four.
Ryan Fox (0-0, 1.69) pitched 3.1 scoreless innings over two appearances.
Josh Glynn (2-3, 5.72) won his only start of the week.
Gary Hogan (4-2, 5.98) won his only start of the week with eight innings of work.
Charlie Isaacson (5-2, 2.77) won his only start of the week with 6.2 scoreless innings. He gave up five hits, walked two and struck out seven.
Cliff Lee (9-3, 3.68) won one of his two starts this week and took a no-decision in the other.
Lowlights:
Jud Kindle was 1-22 (.045) at the plate.
Kirk McConnell made one error (2).
Rodney Nye made two errors (6) and was caught stealing once (4).
Casey Rowlett made his first error and was caught stealing once (3).
Brady Toops made one error (5) in three games.
Jarrett Gardner (1-4, 5.34) lost his only start of the week after giving up five runs in six innings.
Robert Person (0-1, 1.35) picked up a loss on Friday.
Transactions / Injuries:
Scott Roehl was moved from Akron (AA) to the Kinston Indians (A+) on July 1.
Streaks:
Haas Pratt lost a 9 game hit streak (12-34) on Thursday.
Kirk McConnell lost a 6 game hit streak (13-25) on Sunday.
Rodney Nye has a 6 game hit streak going.
Michael Conner has a 5 game hit streak going.
