Jalen Beeks struck out both Yankees he faced in the ninth inning Wednesday to earn his first save of the year.
It was his second career save; the other came last April and was of the three-inning variety. The Rays had Chaz Roe lined up for the save for a second straight night tonight, but he was lifted after walking two of the three batters he faced in the ninth. Nick Anderson again had the eighth. It's unlikely that Beeks will emerge as a real factor in the saves mix in Tampa Bay. Anderson and Roe are the guys to roster right now.

Rays placed LHP Jalen Beeks on the 45-day injured list with a left elbow sprain. In other words, he has a tear in his ulnar collateral ligament and his season is over. It's not clear at this point whether Beeks will undergo Tommy John surgery or attempt to rehab the injury first.
