Jon Heyman of MLB Network is hearing the Phillies are pursuing free agent starter Dallas Keuchel while the Padres have dropped out of the running for his services.
The Phillies have a lot of money to spend and have budgeted most or all of those funds for Bryce Harper. If they are unable to land the star slugger they may view Keuchel as Plan B. The Padres already locked down Manny Machado for $300 million and that is presumably why they are no longer willing or able to pony up for Keuchel. The veteran left-handed starter and former Cy Young winner went 12-11 with a 3.74 ERA and 1.31 WHIP in 34 starts for the Astros last year. Heyman notes the Padres are still in the market for another starting pitcher but will not shop at the top of the market for Keuchel. Gio Gonzalez is still available and would be a cheaper option.

Agent Scott Boras believes free agent Dallas Keuchel would be able to pitch in the majors within a week of signing.
Keuchel has already thrown seven simulated games with pitch counts ranging from 95-104. While Boras thinks his client is close to being major-league ready, others might disagree. Appearing on WFAN Thursday, Jon Heyman of MLB Network relayed that Keuchel has not been overly impressive in his workouts, worrying scouts with his lack of command. Regardless, the former Cy Young winner figures to sign shortly after the MLB Draft, which begins Monday. At that point Keuchel, who received a qualifying offer from Houston, would no longer be tied to draft-pick compensation.

David O'Brien of The Athletic reports the Braves have reached a deal with LHP Dallas Keuchel. According to Yahoo's Tim Brown, it's a one-year, $13 million pact. Keuchel had to sweat it out for a few months but the left-hander has finally found a home in Atlanta, where the Braves find themselves in a dog with the Phillies in an up-for-grabs NL East. Keuchel arrives in the Peach State with two All-Star appearances and a Cy Young award to his credit, all accomplished during his seven-year run in Houston. It's going to be a few weeks before he's big-league ready but once he shakes off the rust, the 31-year-old should be a top-of-the-rotation force for Atlanta.

Dallas Keuchel allowed just one hit and one walk while striking out nine over seven scoreless innings in a start for Low-A Rome on Monday.
That will work. Keuchel needed just 77 pitches to cruise through his seven frames in what was his first official game action since last October. Braves manager Brian Snitker said Monday that he expects Keuchel to make at least two starts in the minors before joining the major league rotation, and that still figures to be the case even after Monday's dominant effort.

Making his Braves debut, Dallas Keuchel allowed four runs (three earned) over five innings and took the loss Friday against the Nationals.
In his first start on a major league mound since last October, Keuchel held the Nationals off the board for the first three innings before giving up three runs in the third. The damage included an RBI triple from Victor Robles and a long solo homer off the bat of Yan Gomes. He gave up an RBI single to Anthony Rendon in his final frame, though he managed to keep the inning from getting out of hand. All told, Keuchel allowed six hits and hit two batters while walking none and striking out three. We don’t have high expectations that he’ll stand out in mixed leagues, but he should be a solid starter for the Braves the rest of the way.

Bruce Levine of 670 The Score reports that the White Sox and Cubs have interest in free agent left-hander Dallas Keuchel.
The Cubs recently lost Cole Hamels, as he signed a one-year deal with the Braves, though any pursuit could be complicated by their budget situation. The White Sox should have more wiggle room to deal with, as evidenced by their recent offer to Zack Wheeler. Keuchel shouldn't cost nearly as much as Wheeler, of course. The southpaw posted a 3.75 ERA over 19 starts with the Braves in 2019.

Jeff Passan of ESPN reports that the White Sox have agreed to a contract with free agent southpaw Dallas Keuchel.
Jon Heyman of MLB Network adds that it'll be a three-year pact for $55.5 million. The deal also includes a vesting option for a fourth season that could bring the total contract to $74 million. He'll slot in behind Lucas Giolito atop the White Sox rotation and should provide valuable leadership for their young staff. For fantasy purposes, the move back to the American League and the new home ballpark aren't ideal, but those factors are mitigated when you consider how often he'll feast on the Tigers and Royals.
