Brian Anderson is slated to begin the season as the Marlins' everyday third baseman.
"We do plan on playing him at third," manager Don Mattingly told reporters at the annual FanFest at Marlins Park. "He was excellent in right field last year, but as an organization, we feel like he makes us a better organization playing third base." Anderson split time between third base and right field last season, making 71 appearances at third and 91 appearances in right. Anderson had a very strong, if unheralded, rookie year in Miami, batting .273/.357/.400 with 11 homers, 65 RBI and 87 runs scored. His environment will keep his ceiling relatively low, but the 25-year-old is one of the brighter spots for the Marlins these days.

Brian Anderson was diagnosed with a fractured bone in his left hand and is expected to miss the remainder of the 2019 season. It's a tough break for Anderson -- and for fantasy owners -- after the initial diagnosis was that he was just dealing with a left hand contusion after being hit by a pitch during Friday's game. While there's a chance he could make it back before the end of the year, there's no incentive for the Marlins to rush him back. If that's indeed it for him, he'll finish the year hitting .261/.342/.468 with 20 homers, 66 RBI and five stolen bases.
