Hunter Henry caught 7-of-9 targets for 81 yards in Sunday's Week 13 victory over the Browns.
Henry's seven catches were his most in a game since Week 2 while his nine targets were a a career-high. The Chargers seem to have remembered that he's a pivotal part to making their passing game dynamic as he has 12 receptions for 157 yards and a touchdown over the past two weeks. Henry has taken advantage of back to back soft matchups the past two weeks, but draws another favorable opponent next week as Washington has struggled to cover the tight end position all season long. Fire up Henry as a TE1 next weekend.

Hunter Henry has a "small" laceration of his kidney and is in danger of missing Weeks 16-17.
Officially, coach Anthony Lynn said Monday that Henry's status is "up in the air" for the next two games. The Chargers' playoff hopes took a big hit in Saturday night's loss to Kansas City, and they are now in danger of missing their No. 2 pass-catching weapon behind Keenan Allen for two must-win games. If Henry can't go this week, washed-up Antonio Gates would be forced into heavy snaps.

Chargers placed TE Hunter Henry (kidney) on injured reserve, ending his season.
OG Brett Boyko was signed off the practice squad in the corresponding move. Henry suffered a small kidney laceration in Saturday's loss to Kansas City. Henry took a step forward in his sophomore season, securing 45-of-63 targets for 579 yards and four touchdowns over 14 appearances. Without him, the Chargers will turn to veteran Antonio Gates at tight end.

Hunter Henry suffered a torn ACL at Chargers OTAs on Tuesday.
What a devastating blow to a player who was projected to play a massive role in a Chargers offense without Antonio Gates in it for the first time in 15 years. Henry is obviously done for the season, and it leaves Virgil Green currently atop the depth chart. It’s fair to wonder if the Bolts will turn back to Gates after they told him they were moving on earlier this offseason. However, Gates showed he has little to nothing left in the tank. Perhaps the Chargers will use more three- and four-wide sets with their abundance of receivers, including Keenan Allen, Mike Williams, Tyrell Williams, and Travis Benjamin. GM Tom Telesco may also explore the trade market.

ESPN's Adam Schefter reports Hunter Henry (knee, PUP) is expected to play in the Wild Card round against the Ravens.
It is tough to imagine Henry playing every snap after sitting out the entire season, but he could be a big boost on third downs and in the red zone against a tough defense. The Chargers will have to make a move to get Henry on the active roster this week.

Chargers placed the franchise tag on TE Hunter Henry.
This was widely expected and a no-brainer move for the Chargers. Henry's injury history has limited to him playing 41-of-64 regular season games, but he's averaging 8.9 yards per career target, making him one of the better tight ends in the league when he's on the field. With the Chargers potentially going with a rookie quarterback for part of the upcoming season, it's wise to keep Henry around as a check-down option with some YAC ability. Henry will be a mid-range TE1 in fantasy drafts depending on who is under center. He'll be incentivized to have a big season to secure a long-term deal next offseason.

Patriots signed TE Hunter Henry, formerly of the Chargers, to a three-year, $37.5 million contract.
Henry's deal includes $25 million guaranteed. The Patriots have now landed both of free agency's top tight ends in Henry and Jonnu Smith, who on Monday signed a four-year, $50 million deal with New England ($31.25 million guaranteed). There will be loose talk of the Patriots trying to revive the team's Rob Gronkowski-Aaron Hernandez offense from years ago. There is a slight difference, however, between career prime Tom Brady and late-career Cam Newton. Barring a total overhaul of New England's run-heavy, Cam-led offense, the Henry signing all but ensures neither tight end will be a startable fantasy option in 12-team leagues this season. Henry departing LA leaves Donald Parham -- he of much fantasy football intrigue -- as the favorite to start at tight end in Justin Herbert's offense.

ESPN's Adam Schefter reports Hunter Henry (shoulder) will miss "a couple weeks."
Henry was helped off the practice field Sunday after a collision with a teammate. The oft-injured tight end -- who signed a three-year deal with New England this offseason -- is unlikely to play in the preseason as he recovers. Henry's absence could open up more pass-catching opportunity for Jonnu Smith, though Smith's blocking prowess will probably keep him from consistent fantasy production, as we saw in Tennessee. Neither Henry nor Smith hold much fantasy appeal if Cam Newton starts the season for New England.
