Arkansas will keep base ticket prices for non-conference football games the same for next season, but will increase the price of its general stadium ticket for Southeastern Conference games and include a charge for games played at War Memorial Stadium, Vice Chancellor and Director of Athletics Jeff Long announced on Monday.
The $55 conference and $45 non-conference base ticket prices will be maintained for a minimum of two seasons. Accordingly, Red Zone seats in Fayetteville will be adjusted to $65 for conference games and $55 for non-conference games.
An additional $10 per game will be added to the general stadium ticket price for both non-conference and SEC games at War Memorial Stadium in Little Rock.www.arkansasrazorbacks.com/ViewArticle.dbml?DB_OEM_ID=6100&ATCLID=204893342

So I'm supposed to pay an extra $10 for the "privilege" of driving 3 hours from the campus to play in a smaller, more run-down stadium?
The GSD just tilted more against War Memorial. Well played, Jeff Long.

So in the last 3 years, here is the cost of 4 Red Zone seats in Fayetteville and 4 LR tickets: 2007- 1240 2008- 1460 2009- 1460 2010- 1700
For this year, it is a 16.4% increase. Not outlandish by itself. However, over 3 years, it is a 37.1% increase. The percentages are higher on regular Fayetteville tickets because the increase was the same on a lower base price. While this guarantees the revenue because people will continue to buy their tickets, they have to expect Foundation revenue to decrease. Many people will make up for ticket prices by lowering their donation closer to the minimum levels to keep their seats.
The thing that stands out is the LSU game is $45 + $10 SEC + $10 LR = $65. That is a 44% increase. If they sell 50,000 (53,000 - band, 2,000 students, team) tickets at War Memorial for $65, that generates $3.25 million. 62,000 RRS tickets at $55 (72,000- band, 10,000 students, team), that generates $3.41 million. This does not take into consideration the Red Zone premiums, SEZ outdoor club premiums, indoor club premiums, or more boxes which all generate substantial incremental revenue.
I'm sorry, but there is no excuse to play that game in LR. If this is going to be a bottom line business that is about revenue streams and nothing else, then play the game in Fayetteville. I would rather pay $65 to sit in my Red Zone seat in one of the nicest stadiums in the country than pay $65 to share my 16" of bleacher in the second worst SEC stadium with someone who has been drinking on the golf course all day.

So, don't buy LR tickets. Easy.
I haven't since about 1995. I hate going there, and I grew up there.

I'm with Chuck Barrett on this one. Where's Chuck Barrett? There are fans who live in Southern Arkansas and Eastern Arkansas who are just a loyal, if not more so, b/c they still send money and buy merchandise despite never getting to see the games. So when twice a year there are football games within a 3 hour drive of them, they go and its good to reward them.

So when twice a year there are football games within a 3 hour drive of them, they go and its good to reward them. I used to be 100% against LR games, period. As I've mellowed over the years, I've come to accept them, but play a different game there. The LSU game being played in Fayetteville could generate a significant amount of money to benefit all programs on campus. While no one wants to pay more, I understand the price increases. I don't have a problem with raising the price in general. I think there are strategic things that could be done to maximize the revenue coming in rather than blanket increases. Playing big games in Fayetteville where there are 17,000 more seats to sell would be a major one. Second is to price less desirable seats to less desirable games where people who don't get to go often can afford them. Instead of having the corners of the upperdeck empty for Missouri State or Northern Illinois, sell those seats for $20. That is more revenue and bringing new fans into the stadium.

im all for rotating games in LR, as long as games continue to be played there. Doesn't need to be LSU every other year, in fact I would love to see Ark vs. LSU in fayetteville. I do enjoy the LR games though
