Joe Johnson, who will likely become a free agent this summer, said on Friday that he would "love to" re-sign with the Hawks, before adding, "But who knows what happens, man."
Johnson asked for an extension last summer (he turned down a four-year, $60 million offer) which seems to indicate that he wants to stay in Atlanta, but that's far from guaranteed.

Joe Johnson said recently that he "loves" Mike D'Antoni which could mean he ends up with the Knicks next year if they miss out on LeBron James.
"I got even something better to focus on right now with Atlanta, trying to finish off the season well," Johnson said. "[Mike and I] have got a great relationship. He gave me a chance to shine and become the player I am today. I love him, so I would visit." JJ also said recently that he would "love" to re-sign with Atlanta, as well.

Joe Johnson made 12-of-19 FGs in Monday's win over the Jazz, scoring 28 points with two 3-pointers, six rebounds, six assists, one steal and one turnover. Atlanta hadn't won in Utah in 17 years.
JJ came into this game averaging a season-high 23 ppg in February, making 1.9 threes on 47% from downtown. He's rested and raring to go as the Hawks cruise into homecourt advantage in the first round -- they sit in 4th place, one game behind Boston and 3 1/2 games ahead of Toronto.

Joe Johnson hit five 3-pointers and finished with 25 points and eight assists despite spraining the thumb on his right hand while tangled up with Ron Artest in the first quarter of Wednesday's home win over the Lakers.
"I didn't want to shy away from the shots I was getting," Johnson said. "I just tried to keep it as loose as possible." It sounds like he'll keep playing through it, especially since the Hawks moved past Boston for the No. 3 seed in the East with the win

Joe Johnson (thumb) will not play Tuesday against the Bobcats or Wednesday against the Pistons, and Maurice Evans will start in his place.
He injured the thumb defending Ron Artest last Wednesday and then aggravated it Friday against the Cavs. The Hawks want him healthy for the playoffs, and don't exactly care how devastating this may be for fantasy owners in their playoffs. Owners in weekly leagues should plant him on their benches in most cases.

In a potential playoff preview, Joe Johnson scored 31 points to lead the Hawks to victory in Milwaukee on Monday.
JJ made 12-of-19 FGs, including four 3-pointers, with seven rebounds, three assists, and zero turnovers in 40 minutes. Atlanta has clinched the Eastern Conference's third seed regardless of who wins Wednesday's game vs. the Cavs.

Joe Johnson plans on taking over in the playoffs, seeking to prove that he's a great player and that the Hawks are a great team.
"I’m really not trying to prove it to anybody but myself," he said. "I just want to know that, if necessary, I can put this team on my back and take us as far as we can go." This is good news for Hawks fans, as the team will have to get big games out of him in order to go deep into the playoffs.

Joe Johnson had another disappointing game on Saturday, scoring eight points on 3-of-15 shooting as the Hawks fell into an 0-3 hole vs. the Magic. Atlanta had just nine assists as a team.
Johnson isn't solely to blame for Atlanta's struggles, but right now he doesn't seem capable of earning either a championship or a max contract. The Hawks are dead in the water but will try to avoid a sweep by stealing Game 4 on Monday
Joe Johnson snubbed Hawks fans after the team was booed throughout a lopsided home loss on Saturday. "They don’t bother me," Johnson said. "It’s about us in this locker room. We could care less if they showed up or not." JJ shot 3-of-15 from the field and his future with the Hawks looks a lot cloudier after this postseason meltdown. To make things worse for Atlanta, Al Horford openly questioned his teammates' effort and coach Mike Woodson said "We didn't compete." Game 4 will be played on Monday.

The Miami Heat are said to be interested in signing free agent Joe Johnson.
Johnson and Dwyane Wade are buddies after being on the Olympic Team together, and the Heat have enough money to sign at least two marquee players, in addition to Wade. Johnson struggled badly in the playoffs, but is still one of the game's best shooting guards. Wade plays the same position, but Johnson might be ready to move away from being his team's first option. The Nets, Bulls and Knicks are also interested in Johnson, as well as his current team, the Hawks.

Hawks GM Rick Sund said on Wednesday the team would like to bring back free agent Joe Johnson.
"I'm hopeful and optimistic we can sign him going forward," Sund said. "I told him we've come a long way, and it would be great if he can continue to be an important part of our team going forward." Johnson and the Hawks are both saying the right things, but our guess is Johnson will get a big offer and leave the Hawks this summer.

Hawks management was reportedly upset with ex-coach Mike Woodson for wearing out Joe Johnson with heavy minutes during the regular season.
This is an interesting report, especially since Johnson's 38 minutes per game was 1:30 less than last season and his lowest mark since 2002-03. He fell apart down the stretch and shot a mere 39% in the postseason, though that could have been due to his late-season thumb injury.

Hawks GM Rick Sund said the team will do "whatever it takes" to re-sign Joe Johnson, but co-owner Michael Gearon Jr. was more circumspect, saying the Hawks will "react" to the FA market.
"We’ve assembled a team where we try to stay away from bad contracts," said Gearon. After an exhaustive look at the situation, beat writer Michael Cunningham concludes that "chances are if the Hawks are going to sign a major free agent this summer, it’s going to be J.J."

ESPN's Chris Broussard is reporting that Joe Johnson has the Knicks "high" on his list of potential teams to play for.
JJ probably wasn't thrilled with the Hawks' draft (guard Jordan Crawford) and the lack of talk about free agents heading to Atlanta in the offseason. With all the talk about LeBron and other free agents heading to Chicago, Miami and New Jersey, Johnson very well could land with the Knicks. Stay tuned.
