gotta be eibner for me. darr's double sent us to CWS but our CWS life was on the line
1-1 with 2 outs, 1 on and blast off for a kid who struggled a lot this year. Will forever be one of my favorite hog baseball games.

Darr's double: " Play of the Year" Eibner's homer: " Game of the Year" Those of us who understand how great college baseball is will be remembering these 2 wistfully for many decades at least as much as other Hog fans will remember anything from football or hoops from '08 and '09. |

I almost tear up when Eibner steps back in the box with the 1-1 count. Chill bumps run up both arms. I remember my reaction in the living room as my normally reserved dad started to celebrate like a kid with me. Darr's double, while awesome in it's own right, doesn't have the same effect on me. I was once again in the living room and doing my best 3rd base coach impression and when Cox slid in I ran at the tv and screamed "We're going to Omaha, baby!" My mom said "Those were the winning runs? I said yes maam and she said good cause you are scaring the dogs! Another factor is after the virginia game, people all across America were talking about that play and that game. |
