12 (42) LA Lakers (from Charlotte) Patrick Beverley 6-1 172 PG Ukraine Patrick Beverley was playing in the Ukraine a few months ago. Now he's in L.A.? What a ride! He's super-athletic, he's a lockdown defender and he can play both the 1 and the 2. Nice pick for the Lakers.

UPDATE to the UPDATE (8:57 PT): The Lakers have traded the rights to Beverley to the Miami Heat for cash (they really dig that guy) and another future second round pick. Again, the Lakers are raising money to help bring back the guys they want, sacrificing rights to players they don't need. Solid move. BK

The Lakers traded guard Patrick Beverley to the Heat for a future second-round pick and cash.
Beverley was taken with the 42nd pick and is a pretty tough and experienced point guard after playing in the Ukraine. He could see some spot minutes as a back up point guard next season.

Heat guard Patrick Beverly has signed with a team in Greece.
He signed a one-year deal with Olympiakos, but could return to play for the Heat next season. Heat rookie forward Robert Dozier has also signed to play in Greece this year.
