First - I want to thank the board regulars who have made this board great. There have been some great discussions, photos, videos etc. and I want to thank everybody for participating!
On to business....
Over the past few years the Baum board has grown along with the baseball program. It has made it harder to maintain my vision for what I wanted this board to be in the first place, which was a civil internet community for Arkansas baseball fans to discuss the baseball team. When we started the HogNation message board in 2002, not only were there no “baseball” forums on the other sites, there was not even any baseball discussion. I was told numerous times in those days not to post about baseball because nobody cared. We were the first Arkansas baseball message board, and, in my opinion, remain the best.
There are a few problems though.
1. The board has become a headache to moderate. Too many people are too argumentative with each other. Especially after a loss or string of losses, this board is a nightmare. 2. It is hard to have real discussions because people have chosen sides. It’s starting to be just like the other boards were in Nutt’s last few years. Either you are a hugger or a hater and that’s it. In reality it’s not so simple. We are all Razorback baseball fans. I never thought I’d see baseball get like football and basketball in terms of fan arguments, I guess it’s a sign that the program has really arrived. 3. Because players, their parents, coaches, recruits and others involved in the athletic department read the board, I think some people are not as open as other people. This too prevents real discussion. People are willing to discuss a topic in person but not on the board because they don’t want to offend somebody whether it’s a player, a coach, etc. (That said...there have been some great parents that post on the board and we really appreciate them, and parents are certainly free to continue participating.)
To correct these issues we are implementing some changes in the Baum Stadium board.
1. The board is going to be able to be read only by registered members. Nobody will be able to see the board unless they have an account.
2. New members must be first recommended by a current member OR they can send me an email requesting to be added. Just requesting an account doesn’t necessarily mean someone will be allowed to join though.
Also, going forward I’m going to have very little tolerance for people that 1) show up only when the team isn’t doing well to complain and 2) show up only to complain about complainers. Neither adds anything at all to the board. Week long bans will be enforced and eventually complete bans.
Ultimately I just want to bring the board back to where it was before, a fun community to discuss Razorback baseball without all the drama the other boards have. No matter how many other boards make baseball forums and threads, this is the only place where Razorback baseball comes FIRST.
• The policy of allowing only recommended new members is effective immediately.
• The policy of making the board able to be read only by registered members will go into effect about a week after the end of the season, whenever that is.
I understand that this new policy will be a hassle for some people and I’m sorry for that but my hope is that this will improve the board. If anybody has any comments or suggestions feel free to post them or send them to me: charliehog@gmail.com.

...and what other Razorback boards you post on. Does that include analog message boards? The IFH has one that I posted on a few times.
