Both of these guys should've been playing for the Hogs baseball team, but got sidetracked by the draft. wholehogsports.com/story.php?paper=adg&storyid=98668For the second time in four years, Cole Barthel has chosen Arkansas as his football destination. Barthel, 6-2, 210 pounds, 4.6 seconds in the 40-yard dash, signed with Arkansas in February 2001, along with Matt Jones and Tarvaris Jackson. All three were projected as quarterbacks, but Barthel was also a standout third baseman for Decatur (Ala.) High School and the Atlanta Braves drafted him as a sandwich pick between the first and second rounds of the Major League Baseball Draft. Barthel opted to sign with the Braves. Arkansas also could add former Crossett tight end-offensive lineman Rylan Reed, 6-5, 270, 4.9, another former recruit who also opted for professional baseball. Reed, who signed with the Razorbacks out of high school, has quit the Chicago White Sox and is considering Arkansas again.
