Felipe Paulino (elbow) expects to begin a minor league rehab assignment next week with Double-A Northwest Arkansas.
Paulino figures to need a handful of rehab starts as he continues to build strength in his elbow following Tommy John surgery last July. If all goes well, the 29-year-old should be an option for the Royals' rotation around the All-Star break.

Felipe Paulino (elbow, shoulder) resumed a rehab assignment at Double-A Northwest Arkansas Saturday.
Paulino allowed two runs on three hits and two walks over three innings of work. The right-hander had his rehab stalled for nearly eight weeks due to back and shoulder soreness. He'll be an option for the rotation later this month but could come back as a reliever.
