Royals designated LHP Jonathan Sanchez for assignment.
It's a tough pill to swallow for the Royals given that they dealt Melky Cabrera for Sanchez this past winter, but the move was probably overdue. Sanchez was shelled for seven runs in just 1 1/3 innings Monday against the light-hitting Mariners and has a 7.76 ERA in 53 1/3 overall frames this season. He's only 29 years old, though, and could draw some interest on waivers.
"If I were playing third base and my mother were rounding third with the run that was going to beat us, I'd trip her. Oh, I'd pick her up and brush her off and say, 'Sorry, Mom,' but nobody beats me." ~ Leo Durocher
