Wow! Congrats on the offer too thanks. not planning on taking it unless a bunch of other options fall through. It would basically be an extension of my job now. Instead of my time down here ending in September, It would end after football season. It's nice to have as a fallback plan though. I prefer something a little closer to home.

That's one sweet tan line you've got on those ankles. You went from an awesome baseball job to a cool football job as a backup plan. Good for you.

Traded the Aaron Miles bat for this. It said Aaron Miles, Chicago Cubs and my roommate is from Indiana and a Cubs fan, I knew he'd bite

Aerial view of the complex. Since pic was taken (around 2008), 2 half fields (infield only) have been added

a kid from North Little Rock got promoted to the Palm Beach Cardinals. His name is D'Marcus Ingram. He played at Pensacola JC and was a 25th round pick in 2006. He scored the game winning run tonight and I was covering the bullpen after the game and saw him. Asked him if he was from Little Rock, and he said NORTH Little Rock and smiled real big. I said, I'm from Benton and he was like "An Arkansas boy!" and shook my hand and gave me a hug. LOL. Asked how I ended up down there and I told him and he told me if I ever needed anything, let him know. Real cool guy. I was just as excited as he was to meet another Arkansas kid. Feels weird that he's younger than me though

Cox is being assigned to the GCL Cardinals which is at our complex!
Also got a call today from one of the clubhouse guys that on thursday the 26th, MLB is coming with representatives to authenticate bases and such used in the game. Why would they do that for a GCL game on a back field? Some guy named Bryce Harper!

well here's the deal, they offered me full time here, but not the position i'm looking for and def. not the money I'm looking for, but it's a job in professional baseball and if I want to continue on this path, it may be best to take it.
However, when I came down here, I looked at the relocation as temporary, not permanent. As many of you know, I'm an out in the woods kinda guy, not a beach bum. I have been looking high and low for golf/sports turf jobs in Arkansas and have been unable to find any until tonight. Found some nice positions at a state park in Wynne, AR that I am qualified for and that I'm going to apply for.
Just keep me in your thoughts and prayers as this is my first major life decision for myself and my soon to be wife. I thought I wanted to work in baseball no matter what, but being away from home and family for the last 7 months has shown me where my priorities are. I feel like it's more important to me to be close to family and the state I love than it is to have a cool job in Florida. I hope I'm making the right decision by looking to get back to Arkansas. Your thoughts and opinions are welcome. I'm all ears.

Do whatever makes you happiest Matt. This decision isn't likely to land you the last job you'll ever have, so if things don't work out you can always make changes. I'll send some good thoughts your way.
