As I was reminiscing on Youtube earlier, I watched many of the highlight videos of the last few years. It made me wonder which moment defines the Hogs under DVH. By now, I figure the nostalgia of the 2009 Hogs run has worn off and hopefully this poll will provide a true result. This is a list of the moments I came up with for the masses to vote on, but feel free to post additional moments and comments in this thread.
Here are the videos to accompany these moments.
2007 Vanderbilt
2004 Regional
2009 Super Regional
2004 Super Regional
2009 CWS
2008 South Carolina
2007 Centenary Yet to find a video -- Sorry!!!

2005 Regional - Schmidt Shuts Down the Longhorns
2006 LA Tech - Schmidt Delivers Sweet Chin Music to Jericho Jones -- then K's him on 3 straight pitches.

I think I still have to go with The Slam.

I went with the slam. I don't remember another single moment that affected me or the program as much. It caused much of what came after, the interest in the program, the continued expansion of Baum.
But if I was not limited to a "moment," I might have to include the grit and determination shown by Dallas Keuchel when pitching against Virginia. OMG, that sustained excitement lasted for 4 innings. WOW.

Toop's slam. Virginia hasn't yet had the time to prove its affect. My favorite event is... 2006 LA Tech - Schmidt Delivers Sweet Chin Music to Jericho Jones -- then K's him on 3 straight pitches. Wish that one would get posted on youtube. The third base coach even helped Jones delay. Pretty dangerous since that was prior to the helmets.

My pick(s) for favorite all-time moment didn't make the list. But here's a few of mine. In order:
(1) McKinney's game changing bunt in the Washington State regional game in Norman, changed the game, turned the season and started the run to Omaha which allowed Eibner's home-run vs. Virginia. If not for the bunt, nothing else would have happened in 2009 post-season. Biggest moment in Razorback baseball history?
(2) David Walling's record setting 16 strike-out performance vs. Eastern Illinois. Other great facts from that game? Norm's 1,000 victory and Rodney Nye ties the Razorback record for doubles in a game with 5 and if I recall he went 6 for 6 that day. Not in DVH era, but a great Razorback moment!

I went with the slam for its lasting effects on the program. As someone said, Brady sold 5,000 season tickets with one swing of the bat. There are a ton of Razorback fans who became Razorback Baseball fans that day.

If your were there for the Toops slam, it's a memory and a feeling you will never forget.

Emotion-wise, the Toops grand slam... But for what was on the line, I went with Eibner's shot this year... BOTH were wonderful!

Emotion-wise, the Toops grand slam... But for what was on the line, I went with Eibner's shot this year... BOTH were wonderful! agreed. In central Arkansas, there is no mention of the Hog baseball team, but after the Eibner homer, everyone and their mama was talking about the homer and the game. DK's performance to keep all from being a waste was equally if not more impressive, but for us to be one out from elimination in the CWS (not a regional) and for a kid with loads and loads of talent who had worn the collar all year to step up and make a big play was absolutely unreal. I didn't pay attention to Hog baseball until after the Toops slam as in when the Hogs were on TV for the super regional, but I do know and love the play and know it's significance the growth of the fanbase and expansion of the stadium. I would rank it #2. The fact that we went 2 and out in that CWS puts a damper on it for me. Until this past year, everyone was trying to hang their hat on a CWS APPEARANCE (5 years ago) and a grand slam in a regional. Winning in the CWS and being the talk of the CWS for a couple days will do just as much if not more for this program in terms of recruiting, new fans, etc. than the Toops slam

I hope the 09 season can match what the 04 season did for the program but I don't know if it's possible. Anybody remember the first game of the Super Regional, the line at around 9am that stretched from the ticket office window out to the road? People walking around with their fingers in the air looking for tickets all day?
Unimaginable before the Slam.

The impact of the '09 season will be on our national image. We won't see the exponential surge in our fan base, but the second CWS appearance in 6 years with a solid core returning puts us in the upper tier of teams nationally.
