she had been having pain in her back and went to her doctor and he put her on steroids hoping it was just inflamation, it helped her back but her neck was also killing her and she started having numbness in the tips of her fingers and then recently the numbness was also in the left side of her face. She had an MRI and it came back abnormal and she has been told to set up further MRIs with a neurologist. Her sister is an assistant to a neurosurgeon who looked at the pics and said he couldn't tell what was wrong but he did see the abnormality (a white spot on her cervical spine). He told her to get MRIs done with dye (first set of pics were poor quality in his opinion) of her neck, back, brain and maybe others. Wants to rule out multiple sclerosis and some other things. Both of us are very scared and anxious to get the other MRIs done. Please pray for us. Thanks

she went to the eye doctor yesterday because she was having trouble seeing out of her left eye. the Dr. asked if she had Multiple Sclerosis and wanted to send her to a specialist. She went today to a eye surgeon
Surgeon said she has Optic Neuritis which is swelling of the optic nerve. About 50% of people diagnosed with MS have optic neuritis and 20-30% of the time, it is the "presenting sign of MS" according to wikipedia. Spinal tap scheduled for tomorrow. Please keep us in your thoughts and prayers.
The previous Doctors doing the MRI wanted to do a spinal tap to rule this out a while back but after they gave us the run-around and the bills were piling up, we decided against it. Now a 2nd Dr. sees symptoms

her mom just sent me a text. Spinal tap is over, she's currently getting an iv of steroids for 2 hours to lower the swelling in her optic nerve and getting the fluid off her eye. She will have to come back on Saturday and Sunday for two more two hour IVs

update: MRI came back normal. Decided against the steroid IV. 7-10 days for Spinal Tap results. She's on her way home

Found out a day or two ago that it is indeed MS. Kara has chose a MS specialist in Little Rock and will begin treatment once they look deeper into the results. They have to find out which form and what stage the disease is in order to determine treatment. Hopefully she has the form that goes into remission basically and you can go years with no symptoms. Thanks for the prayers and thoughts guys. Please keep them coming. She needs them
