congrats on the #1 ranking guys our pitching has totally fallen apart, so we're not likely to join you in the rankings anytime soon

Baseball America podcast talked about us for about two seconds, just long enough to say we aren't as good as LSU. Which brings me back to what I said a few weeks ago. When BA looks at baseball teams, they are scouting the teams based on player ability and potential. To put it in a more nerdy way, they are trying to use their opinion of the talent to predict which team is most likely to win any given game. Most polls/computer rankings use a shortcut to predict which team is most likely to win a given game: which team has actually been able to win any given game. BA ranks LSU and Georgia ahead of us because they have more talented players. Other polls (CBN) rank us ahead of them because we have done a better job scoring more runs than our opponents in any given game. Which do you consider the right method? Anyone who believes the adage "settle it on the field" should prefer the latter. [Unnecessary and anger-inducing analogy] BA is saying that a few people (i.e. Aaron Fitt) know which team is best better than the results on the field--in essence, their polls are like the BCS. The other polls, the ones based on results on the field, are saying that winning determines which team is best--in essence, these are like March Madness. Which is better? [/Unnecessary and anger-inducing analogy]

from an AZ state board after the game: I had the expectation that ASU, even being a young team, would at least split with the 3rd best SEC team. If anything, I guess I was surprised by the environment at Arkansas....

There was a post on one of the Ole Miss boards saying that they could not understand how we had won as much as we have. (I would link it, but it is a premium board for OM.)
They talk about how low our batting averages are, how our ERA isn't that great, we haven't hit that many homers, etc., etc. They then said, it won't last. Arkansas has been opportunistic. It will catch up with Arkansas, blah, blah.
That's fine with me. Take us lightly and we will see what happens on the field.

Our stats aren't padded. That's the difference.

Charlie hit the nail on the head. We dont have any Northwest Tennessee Southerns on our schedule this year.

I guess all those who underestimate us don't realize how tough our schedule really is.
