Boyd’s World --Pseudo RPI: #8 [down 3] --ISR: #4 [down 2] --SOS: #18 [down 3]
We are penalized for beating a good SEC team on the road. We should have played the 10th place PAC-10 team and we would be #1.

I'm anxious to see Collegiate Baseball's poll. We were fourth last week, and all three teams ahead of us lost series on the weekend. I suspect LSU will leap over us, but we could be knocking at the door of #1.

The University of Arkansas (22-6) has been ranked No. 1 for the first time this season in Collegiate Baseball newspaper's NCAA Division I baseball poll.
The Razorbacks won two of three at South Carolina over the past weekend and sit in first place in the Southeastern Conference with a 10-2 record. Arkansas has won 9 of its last 11 games.
Georgia, ranked No. 1 last week, dropped two of three at home to Louisiana St. Of the top five teams in the rankings last week, only one had fewer than two losses, and that was Arkansas. Arizona St. moved up to second after sweeping a 3-game series at Washington. The Sun Devils have won 10 of their last 12 games.

From BA's Top 25 Tracker --
1. ARIZONA STATE Last Week: 4-1. Overall: 23-5, 8-1 in Pac-10 (3-2 vs. Top 25). Weekend Series: 6-0. Arizona State split two midweek games against the nation's top-ranked team, then swept a conference road series against Washington to become the new No. 1. The Devils' dynamic duo continued to deal, as Jr. RHP Mike Leake (7.2 IP, 4 H, 1 ER, 5 BB, 10 K) improved to 7-1, 1.29 with a 62-13 K-BB ratio in 56 innings on Friday. LHP Mitchell Lambson twirled a complete game in his first career start, allowing two runs on five hits and three walks while whiffing nine. Lambson's emergence, on the heels of So. RHP Seth Blair's seven shutout innings Wednesday against Fullerton, gives ASU four quality starting options. RESULTS March 31-April 1: (1) Cal State Fullerton: L 7-5, W 3-1 March 3-5: @ Washington: W 3-1, W 12-1, W 6-2 UPCOMING April 7-8: @ (12) Arkansas April 10-12: Washington State

Forrest (4.1 IP, 4 H, 4 ER) took the loss in Saturday's blowout. Sr. OF Chase Leavitt (4-for-4, 2 RBI, 2B) keyed a 14-hit attack Sunday, and Jr. RHP Mike Bolsinger picked up the win with six scoreless, one-hit innings of relief after Fr. Q: Justin from Fort Smith, AR asks: Still not sure why you guys are keeping the Razorbacks out of the top 10 or even top 5. Really?! They have the best record in the SEC right now 10-2 compared to LSU and Georgia, who you have ranked in the top 10. Please explain... A: Aaron Fitt: The teams ahead of Arkansas keep winning games. Even Georgia, which lost a series to LSU this weekend, still went 3-2, earning two quality wins against a good Clemson team. We weren't going to hammer the Bulldogs after that week. Arkansas deserves to be in the top 10 based on what it has done this season, but so do the teams ahead of it. And at the end of the day, as much as I like Arkansas (I'll remind you that we were just about the only outlet to rank the Hogs in the preseason), I still think LSU and Georgia will finish better in the end. Both those teams are more secure on the mound

You know, I do high school rankings on my site, and there are times that teams keep winning, who may have been ranked above another team in the preseason, but it is obvious who the better team is, so I will move them up regardless, and rightfully so.

Both those teams are more secure on the mound Is this sort of logic that makes me want to throw up. Based on this logic, it is possible that LSU and Georgia remain above us all season even if we win the SEC (assuming a split with them) because you don't want to react to sharply or harshly to one lost series. This condition shows the logical irrationality that are polls. They should reflect who is the better team but the standings might not ever be revealed, which is ultimately how the conference defines who is best.
