"You see, we had planned on both breaking it and tying each other for the record," Rowlett said. "But I read a quote that he put in the paper that he wants to break it by one or two. So, I guess when it comes down to it, if he's got one or two ahead of me, I may have to rough him up a little bit so he'll miss the last couple of games of the regular season." Bridges smiled. "I guess I slipped up when I said I wanted to break it myself, I think it kind of made him a little mad," said Bridges, sprouting a toothy smile. "I guess he's going to put a little pressure on me." - 2005
Van Horn was ejected in the seventh, disputing a ball four to Tim Rafferty so befuddling that the SMS runner at first, former Razorback outfielder Kirk McConnell of Magnolia, was still near first when Rafferty trotted down the line. "To me, that was a no-doubter that he came across the plate on that 3-2 swing," Van Horn said. "Just backing up our guys a little bit, a little frustrated and (Svehla) said something that pissed me off and I just went out there and got some of him." - Arkansasvs. SMS, April 2005
"We are doing a great job out of our league," Van Horn said, "and below average in our league. Look at your batting average overall and it looks pretty good. Flip the page a couple of pages and see what it says on the SEC stats... wake up!" - After the Hogs were swept by LSU in '05.
After the game, Van Horn and Texas assistant coach Tommy Harmon exchanged words while the teams were shaking hands on the field. "He said he didn’t appreciate us hitting and running with a seven-run lead in the ninth," Van Horn said. "I told him ‘we didn’t hit and run, we straight stole on you.’ They had just punched in two runs and we were trying to gain some momentum back. He got his little jab in and it was sour grapes. " My job is not to worry about hurting their feelings, it’s about winning baseball games. " - Austin Regional in '05

"There are always a couple of teams that I refuse to lose to and Wichita State is one of them." - Charley Boyce, March '06
“It’s like I told them. Tuesday all-stars. How about some weekend warriors? That’s what we’re looking for around here.” - DVH, April '06
"If you can't get excited to come out here and play in front of 4,000 people in a ballpark like this in this kind of weather, you need to do something else or find another program," Van Horn said. - April 2006
“The wind’s blowing out 90 mph, and I hit five ground balls to go 0 for 5,” Walker said - at ORU, May '06
"I just hope she doesn't die because she's definitely been good luck the last two days." said Hogs catcher Brian Walker, who was 3-for-3 with three RBIs. "It's not the only superstitious thing that we have. Heck, I ate a lady bug (Friday), swallowed it whole. I don't know if it's helping, but we're sure as heck going to keep her around." - on Rosie, May '06
"TBA [To Be Announced] is on Saturday," Slater remarked of Auburn’s third starting pitcher. "He’s logged a lot of innings in the SEC throughout the year." - Auburn's coach, May '06

Walker's long blast might have gotten the offense going, but his exchange of words with Moseley and Tech catcher Drew Thomas as he crossed home plate might have sparked the team even more. On the next pitch, Moseley threw behind the head of shortstop Matt Willard, leading to an ejection. "It was just one of those things where the catcher might have said something and I might have said something back," Walker said. "But whatever. Luckily, none of (our guys) got tossed and everybody came out OK." - February '07
"We have had an awesome crowd," Casey Coon said. "I've never been a part of something like this. They really take it serious here." - February '07
“The inning before,” Forsythe said, “the pitcher came out kind of smiling like ‘I’ve got this one in the bag.’ We came out here thinking, ‘We’ve been down more than this.’ I got a good pitch to hit then boom the next inning we score seven runs.” - Against Illinois State, February 2007
"Nobody in this place was more happy to see (Jones) score on that play than me," Van Horn said. "If he hadn't scored, I would have felt pretty stupid for sending him." - two-bag tag against Vandy, March '07
“You know, we've got guys that want to umpire instead of swing the bat and that was disappointing.” - DVH, Miss. State series, April 2007
"You know, I don't like the curfew and I don't like playing under a clock, that's why I don't coach basketball," Van Horn said. "It's too stressful, the clock, I don't like it. I like the outs, until the last pitch is made. I'm glad it ended the way it ended." - Florida series, April '07
"I hadn't said anything, in my opinion, to get tossed," Van Horn said. "You know, after I got tossed I did. Before, I didn't think he was going to toss me. I just thought it was a ball call. "I still think it was a bad call." "I think when he sees the video, he'll think it was a bad call. I don't want to get thrown out of a conference game. I don't want to get thrown out in the first inning. "I wasn't planning on getting thrown out, but I guess Larry had heard enough." - LSU, May 2007
The first inning it’s ‘Atta boy, Jess,’” Forsythe recalled. “The second inning he does the same thing, and it’s like, ‘All right.’ Then he goes out the next inning and strikes out the next three and it’s, ‘You’ve got to be kidding me!’” - Logan on Jess Todd's 17 K effort against SC in the SEC TNMT, May '07

"When they have three more runs than they have hits, you knew something went wrong," Van Horn said. "It either had to be defense or walks and it was both." - vs. Georgia, March '08
He did, however, still feel the pain of having been drilled in the left thigh by a second-inning liner hit by Tim Smalling. “I didn’t want anybody to know, (but) that hurt pretty good,” Van Horn said. “He asked, ‘Coach, did I get you good?’ I said, ‘Yeah, I’ll show you in two days when it’s purple.’” - vs. Nebraska, March '08
"That has to be one of the greatest victories I've ever been a part of," Razorbacks coach Dave Van Horn said. "I mean we were getting our butt kicked, they scored the first nine runs of the game I think all with two outs. It just didn't look like anything was going to go our way. "I think it was (Wells') game to win," Van Horn said. "He was loose and he just pitched his butt off. I'm so proud of him and the whole team. "I mean it almost brought tears to my eyes. That was an unbelievable win, on the road." - LSU, March '08
"We were trying to figure out if we should take him out or not," Arkansas coach Dave Van Horn said. "His pitch count was up and he did not want to come out of the game. Coach (Dave) Jorn was talking to me about it, I guess that was about the bottom of the 10th. And I said, coach if we take him out of the game and lose the kids will kill us." - LSU, March '08
"Cisterna got hurt, that was disappointing because you're not supposed to run over guys at the plate," Van Horn said. "(The umpires) didn't make a call; they told me (de la Osa) slid. Are you kidding me? How is he going to slide and maybe dislocate a guy's shoulder?" - Vandy, March '08
"Honestly, it's a little embarrassing right now with the way we're playing. The way we're swinging, defense, pitching, everything is just embarrassing. That's really what it comes down to." - Ben Tschepikow vs. Auburn, April '08
“You’ve got to be able to throw it over the plate,” Jorn said. “You have to bounce back and be able to be man enough to take what the heck comes your way. Take the bad and overcome the bad. The game is going to eat you alive if you can’t handle it.” - vs. Auburn, April '08
Said Keuchel: "(Pitching coach Dave) Jorn asked me at the end of the eighth, 'You got anything left in the tank. I lied to him and said, 'Yeah.'" - vs. Florida, April '08

“He just threw strikes,” Van Horn said. “That’s a scary lineup. They’ve got speed at the top, speed at the end and pop through the middle. They don’t make very mistakes. [Eibner] pitched pretty well, obviously. His control took off there in maybe the fourth, fifth and sixth. In the ninth he was getting a little tired, but I told him after the game, 'If you'd have walked the bases loaded and there was less than two outs I still wasn't pulling you. It was your game'. He deserved it.” -Georgia, April '09

“It wasn’t a strike,” Eibner said. “So I just took it.”
