Without NORM there is no Razorback Baseball You don't really know that. He was hired in the 70's and I know what terrible shape the program was in. But once JFB became AD, he showed a willingness to invest in and upgrade all men's sports. I have to believe that if it weren't Norm, somewhere down the line, Broyles would have gotten the program on its feet. This is NOT to downgrade the importance of Norm to Hog baseball. That would be ridiculous. In answer to the poll, I voted for Pags, among the choices given. But there is no doubt that the men who ARE Hog baseball, are Norm DeBriyn and Dave Van Horn. I DO KNOW THAT, JFB brow beat Norm over expenses from the beginning and continued to do so all the way to the end of Norms tenure. JFB didn't raise the money needed to build Baum Norm Did! From the Baums, Walkers, Pagnozzi and other Major leaguers that donated for the lights. How would you like to be shamed into not spending money on needed things for the program and resigning and being asked to RAISE the money to pay for upgrades and DVH salary at least 2 times your own. Thats why NORM is Razorback Baseball because he is a TEAM PLAYER and an even better MAN/HUMAN BEING!!!!!!!

Walling is a quitter. First round pick too, what a waste. I don't get this? You obviously must have never seen David Walling "compete" for the Razorbacks or you would not call him a quitter! You might research why he eventually gave up on his dream of the major leagues. But until you have a feel for that, I wouldn't be calling anyone who was one call away from the big leagues a quitter! Some illnesses can't be solved, but it doesn't make a person a quitter? Walling was one of the finest to ever put on a Razorback jersey. Was respected and admired by the fans and his teammates. Others on this list don't share that same admiration. David Walling wasn't and isn't a quitter!

he couldn't throw from the stretch because of a mental block and that's an illness? Even the coaches said they were disappointed that he wanted to step away from the game over it. That's why he saw a psychologist and such. I think it's a weak excuse for poor pitching and he walked away instead of manning up and overcoming the mental block. From what I hear, he's been successful in his career after baseball and no I never saw him as a Hog. He might be a great guy and great teammate but it's the big leagues and the Yankees spent their first round pick on a guy that did nothing. (not that uncommon in baseball)

Futurehogdad hit the nail right on the head. Without Norm we wouldnt have what we have now. JFB did much for athletics other than baseball. Coach D raised the money through the Walkers(thanks Johnny Mike),Baums ,Pags etc etc. The old George Cole field didnt have lights until a few former players stepped up and donated the money. Coach D was promised a new facility for years by JFB which he used to help recruit players . Most of those players came here, played four years and left before the construction of Baum Stadium began. Norm is Hog Baseball. He doesnt receive the credit he deserves because most of the current fan base never saw him coach a single game.

"Other"...I echo Bauman's comments. Scott got pulled into play after another player's injury, and no one (except him) thought he'd keep that position. So much heart, epitomizes the drive to play beyond their ability....as have several players before and after Hode.
