I'm sure most of you saw Bubbs get run AFTER the game! I assume that ejection will be served tomorrow?
Bubbs was arguing that Dugger was safe on the last play of the game. My seat is on the front row right behind first and Dugger WAS out on the play. The the third base ump came over and told Bubbs the man was out and Bubbs went off on him! (Wonder if he called him "Big mannnn"?) The third base ump was the one that ejected him, I believe.
That being said, I wonder if Bubbs was frustrated at the other calls at first, specifically the pick-offs. We picked off one of their runners early that was called safe and I think he eventually scored. Then Hamblin was called out when he was pretty easily safe.
Two of this ump crew looks like they escaped from the rest home. The home plate ump limps and I don't think the first base ump (today) can see! And BTW, I'm not prejudiced against the elderly.........I turned 50 last year myself!

Changeing the subject just a bit. What is up with our runners leading off first? It seems like we're getting someone picked every game!! Is this on Bubbs or the runners or what? I can't remember ever seeing a team get runner picked off like we do.

I can't remember ever seeing a team get runner picked off like we do. I don't know the answer for sure.......I'd think it's just because we are looking to run a lot and we get caught leaning. Vandy had a kid picked off today, after we'd thrown over and nearly got him on the previous throw! What's he thinkin'....."Oh, I nearly got picked off, I'll lead off a little farther."?

Let me first say that the 3rd base umpire coming over to eject the 1st base coach after the game is fairly rediculous. Of course the is reprecussions as Bubbs will serve time tomorrow, but shouldn't eh 1st base umpire who he was yelling at make that call or the Home plate ump.
I think Bubbs getting tossed had much more to do with the accumulated frustrations. I thought we were back one of the pick offs. The last play was close but I believe right. I think the bigger issue was the early-bird-dinner strike zone for us in the 9th. Let's face it as much as we love Bubbs, he's probably the least essential part of the staff so if his getting tossed does anything for us tomorrow, it was worth it.
So do we expect Clay Goodwin over there Sunday or maybe Butler?

As much as everyone loves him Bubbs and as bad as this entire crew is, Bubbs was in the wrong. There were some horrible calls, but he broke 2 no-nos. An assistant coach can't argue, and you can't chase the ump into the dugout. He should have been tossed a lot quicker than he was.

Won't be Goodwin...he doesn't dress for the games. DVH, Jorn, Butler, Bubbs and Trey are the only "official" coaches. Goodwin is a graduate assistant. I suggest we just not place anyone there at first tomorrow "in memory" of Bubbs contributions to the team. Also, I am calling on "all fans in 103 and 104" to go nuts on the 1st base ump tomorrow. From pre-game to post-game. It's your duty! It would have been awful easy to just walk on into the locker-room as an umpire, understanding that a coach was frustrated. As an old official, it's what you do as a professional. Granted Bubbs could have done the same thing, but the 3rd base umpire came back looking for the ! That's just wrong!

The first base ump today will be behind the plate tomorrow.
The third base ump got involved today because he was on his way off the field when he ran into the argument between the first base ump and Bubbs, he did not go out of his way to talk to Bubbs.
He told Bubbs that the man was out (which I thot he was, also, pretty easily, in fact). Bubbs then went off on him, and that got him tossed. It would have been easy for the third base ump to just continue off the field, tho. But who knows what Bubbs said to him..........maybe a "Big mannnnnn" quote?

The third base ump started running over to first base when he saw Bubbs arguing with the 1b ump. It was almost like he was protecting the other guy. The guy on first today was terrible at third on Friday and he was terrible at first today. His strike zone will probably be the size of a cup on Sunday.
