I'll tell him you think so highly of him. He was a neighbor of mine when I was growing up and helped me with a lot of baseball stuff when I was young. Now he lives next door to my brother. does he iron his pants?* *woopig.net inside joke

King is the obvious #1. He is the most talented player to ever play here with the possible exception of McReynolds.
After that, I would have to go with Kenderick Moore. He did it in all aspects of the game. He could hit for average, had some pop, and played multiple positions in the field. He loved being a Razorback and was a great leader when guys like Carnes, Erickson, Lundquist, and Hinske were freshmen and sophs. For those who never saw him play, he was the Corey Beck of baseball.
Not to diminish anything Lundquist did, but his numbers came at the peak of the "hot bat" era. His numbers were good, but there were other guys on the team (especially Hinske and Nye) putting up similar numbers.
Conversely, Matt Carnes put up good pitching numbers during the same era, so his might actually be a little better than they appear.
The two guys I would buy a ticket to watch hit everyday weren't here long enough to put up big numbers -- Kit Pellow and Jeremy Jackson. Pellow had the ability to hit it out every time up in any park. Jackson was going to put the ball in play (SEC leading .425 average in 1997) and could hit singles, doubles, triples, and homers.
So I would say King (#4?). Kenderick Moore's jersey can't be retired (#2). I may have to break out my #2 hat signed by Kenderick before the end of the season.

In trying to justify my picks, I tried to rank the players. Using a traditional rating system (10 pts for first, 9 for second....), I gave each player points for ranking in the top 10 of a career statistic. I omitted strikeouts for hitters and walks for pitchers since those are not desireable stats.
Hitters 1. Ryan Lundquist- 97 points 2. Kenderick Moore- 92 3. Allen Williams- 90 4. Jeff King- 77 5. Greg D'Alexander- 60 6. Jeff Houck- 49 7. Jack Welsh- 46.5 8. Ralph Kraus- 46 9. Matt Erickson- 45 10. Brian Kirby- 42 11. Troy Eklund- 40.5 12. Eric Hinske- 29
Pitchers 1. Scott Tabor- 53.5 2. Matt Carnes- 35 3. Kevin Campbell- 31 4. Phil Stidham- 30 5. Steve Krueger- 27.5 6. Dennis Fletcher- 22 7. Charlie Isaacson- 21 8. Barry Lunney- 20

An almost equally important question is:
Who will be the next year's bobble head?
2003 - Norm DeBryin 2004 - Frank Broyles 2005 - Tom Pagnozzi 2006 - ?? ?? ?? ??

I vote Bill Ferrell, the second winningest baseball coach in Arkansas baseball history! Sure, 139 wins in no 1,161 wins (Coach D!), but he is #2! For now. ;D Or we could go with head coaches from other sports. I nominate Stan Heath for 2006. Former head coaches? Rollin' Nolan for '07! Seriously the list (in order) should be: King, McReynolds, Ray, Hinske and Cliff Lee in 2010.

Problem is he wouldn't be 2nd by the time the bobblehead came out. Van Horn has 80 coming into this season. Expect around 45 again this season. That means Van Horn could pass him by the end of February next season.
I like the idea of having coaches from other sports too. They should make a John McDonnell and a Houston Nutt. A month ago I probably would haev included Heath, but I'm not sure he'd be here in 3 years.
