Third catcher: Kit Pellow, who was recalled from Triple-A Colorado Springs on Friday, will likely see more action behind the plate during the second half of the season.
"We're going to do that," Hurdle said. "We've got nothing to lose. We want to bring him in more and now the onus is on us to make that happen."
Pellow, who opened the season with the Rockies and was sent to Colorado Springs on June 20, has already played right field, left field, third base and first base in addition to appearing in three games as a catcher.
He caught seven games, with two starts, last year.
