Orioles selected OF Heston Kjerstad of Arkansas with the second pick of the 2020 MLB Draft.
Surprise. Kjerstad was a 36th-round pick of the Mariners back in 2020 who didn’t entertain signing with Seattle, and he became one of the more productive hitters in college baseball the moment he landed with the Razorbacks. The left-handed hitting outfielder hit 37 homers in his 150 games with Arkansas, and his career OPS of 1.011 shows he wasn’t just a power hitter in his two-plus seasons. The power is easy plus, and while there is some swing-and-miss in his profile (129 strikeouts in that time frame), he makes enough hard contact to suggest a decent average. Kjerstad won’t add many steals, but his power and on-base skills should make him more than fantasy relevant in a couple of years.
