OK, for just a straightforward drive to a series, it was the Auburn series in 2003 - New London, MN to Auburn, AL, 1375 miles one way, 2750 miles round trip.
However, the longest not-so-straightforward one-way drive was for the LSU series in Fayetteville at the end of the 2003 season. I came from New London to Fayetteville by way of Clinton, MS, where son Casey was playing in the NCAA Div III Central regional. I left Wednesday PM, picked up my daughter, Mickie, in Waverly, IA, and drove 20 straight hours to get to Clinton, MS, in time for Casey's 10:00 am game on Thursday morning. We then stayed for his Friday morning 9:30 am game and then left immediately for Fayetteville, getting to Baum for the last half of Friday night's LSU game. Distance one way: 1740 miles.
The return was significantly shorter, 855 miles, again detouring through Waverly, IA.
