McLennan Baseball’s Josh Breaux and Grant Miller were named to the 2018 NJCAA Division I Baseball All-America Teams selected by the NJCAA Division I Baseball Committee. Breaux, a catcher/designated hitter/pitcher from Tomball, was named a Third-Team All-American. He appeared in 56 games during his sophomore season, leading the team with a .404 batting average with 18 home runs, 69 RBIs, 61 runs scored and 48 walks. He was a first-team all-conference selection and was named to the NJCAA Region V All-Region squad. In addition, he was named to the 2018 Google Cloud Academic All-District® Baseball Team College Division District 4 First Team with a 3.45 grade-point average. Last week, he became the highest-drafted player in program history after being selected by the New York Yankees in the second round of the MLB Draft with the 61st overall pick.

Patrick Wicklander, Valley Christian, Sr.: Arkansas-bound left-hander capped four-year varsity career by pitching six innings of one-run ball in a 4-3 win over Los Gatos in the Central Coast Section Open Division final. … Struck out 18 earlier in the season while throwing a no-hitter in a West Catholic Athletic League win over Archbishop Riordan. … Finished the season with a school-record 102 strikeouts — tops in the CCS by a sizeable margin — while going 7-3 with a 1.34 ERA as Valley Christian ended the year No. 1 in MaxPreps’ national computer rankings. … Opponents hit just .123 against him. … Pitched 76 innings to lead the WCAL. …. In four seasons at Valley Christian, he went 26-11 with 350 strikeouts and a 1.34 ERA in 297 2/3 innings.

2018 All-East Texas Baseball Team MVP Elijah Trest, White Oak
By the numbers: Trest was 11-1 on the bump with a 0.68 ERA and two saves. He struckout 130 against just 30 base on balls in 91.2 innings. The Arkansas Razorbacks signee tossed three no-hitters in the playoffs for a White Oak team that lost in the regional finals to eventual state champion Beckville. Trest also batted .367 with 8 home runs, 7 doubles, 6 triples, 36 RBI and 30 runs scored. He was also 12 of 13 in stolen bases.
