2015 Team USA Top 20 Prospects 14. Zach Jackson, rhp (Jr., Arkansas)
A high school All-American in 2013, Jackson was Arkansas’ closer this spring and also pitched out of the back of the CNT bullpen. His power curveball is a plus pitch and produces plenty of swings and misses. His fastball sat in the low 90s, touching 94 mph, and he occasionally showed a solid changeup.
Listed at 6-foot-4, 215 pounds, Jackson has prototypical size for a righthander and has started a few games for the Razorbacks during his career. But his below-average control (he walked 5.7 batters per nine innings this spring and issued six walks in 5 2/3 innings this summer) makes him better suited to a role in the bullpen, where his fastball-curveball combination plays up. He could be one of the first college relievers to hear his name called next June.
