Perfect Game had this to say about our draft luck this year:
Arkansas: Outside of LSU, perhaps no team in college baseball had more to cheer about at the signing deadline than the Hogs. Coach Dave Van Horn's club scored big at the deadline. Sure, lefthanded pitcher Sam Hentges, a fourth-round pick to the Indians, was a loss. However, the Hogs scored big with the rest of their class with the additions of several, including RHP Keaton McKinney (42), OF Luke Bonfield (60), RHP Jonah Patten (155), SS Keith Grieshaber (186), C Blake Wiggins (207) and C Nathan Rodriguez (261). The future is very bright for the Hogs.

Recruiting Class Ranked No. 4 by Baseball AmericaFrom BA: The Hogs brought in a huge class highlighted by a trio of blue-chip recruits in McKinney, Bonfield and Rodriguez. A two-way star for USA Baseball’s 18U national team, McKinney works downhill with a heavy fastball that touches 94, a superb changeup and an improving breaking ball. Bonfield owns a premium righthanded bat with emerging power and solid tools across the board, but advanced his instincts make his tools play up further. Wiggins, who hit the only home run at the 2013 Area Code Games, is a righthanded slugger with difference-making power, and fellow corner infielder/catcher Chad Spanberger brings huge raw power from the left side. Rodriguez is an advanced defender with a howitzer for an arm that allows him to shut down opposing running games. The Hogs say fellow catcher Tucker Pennell is an elite blocker, giving Arkansas admirable depth behind the plate. Another juco transfer, Hogan, gives Arkansas a much-needed lefthanded bat ready to contribute immediately at second base or third. Former McLennan CC teammate Campbell has plenty of athleticism and a strong arm at shortstop, but the game has had a tendency to speed up on him in the past, making him a wild card. Rick Nomura, a Hawaiian who spent last year at Alvin (Texas) JC, brings energy and bat-handling skills to the infield mix. Grieshaber, a former soccer standout, brings athleticism to the outfield and could become a key player down the road if he learns to channel his aggressiveness effectively. Patten is the X-factor on the mound, a skinny, projectable righty with an 89-92 fastball that darts all over and a swing-and-miss breaking ball—but he still needs to mature physically and improve his feel for pitching. Slider specialist Chadwick will bolster the bullpen immediately, while Pate and the 6-foot-5 Ryan Fant (younger brother of former Razorbacks starter Randall) give the staff its only two lefties. Pate works at 85-88 and has a promising three-pitch mix, while Fant’s fastball is a bit firmer but his secondary stuff needs work.
